Still basking in the greatness that was the NAAIA - National African American Insurance Association Midwest Regional Forum yesterday in Chicago. I heard some prescient content, connected with friends and made some new ones! But I wanted to give a big shout out to my guy, Eric Cockle! When I started in the High Net Worh Personal Insurance space, he was someone who looked out for me and showed me that you can have great success in this space by working hard and by being true to you! It’s something that I’ve tried to carry with me through to my career and I’m grateful that he chose to pour into me in the early stages! I’m fortunate that, even though we work for competing entities, I can still look to him as a guide and mentor and I greatly appreciate that relationship all these years later! Much respect to my man! #NAAIAChicago #MentorshipMatters #ComminutyMatters

Ready for a nap... but "Back in the Bus" and still buzzin' about the NAAIA Midwestern Forum. There was a good time had by all in Chicago - a lot of lies was told... (oops I meant stories 😂) I can tell that the energy in the game is changing and it couldn't be at a better time as diversity of thought in many rooms in our industry may be at an all time low. The insurance world is calling for leaders and the peeps are stepping up with NAAIA - National African American Insurance Association leading the way. :: To the peeps behind the scenes of NAAIA.. excellent job making the forum a success :: A quick shoutout list - let me just say that this list is not all inclusive, because if you wasn't there you indeed missed a treat. Erie Insurance Group's, the man, myth & legend Fred Johnson, CIC - leading the charge as he talked about visionary leadership & ways to get people following the mission in moving forward together as one team. No wonder why he is one of Milwaukee's "Top 40 under 40" or as I call him "40 for 40." (Never takes a bad picture btw) Chance to connect with Maurice Clarke from Travelers, who when I found out thay his brother played for the 2002 legendary The Ohio State University football Buckeyes that it's was going to be like convo amongst family... O-H (you know the rest by now). Opportunity to reconnect with people like Nicole Durham - who is now madam president of the NAAIA Indiana Chapter. Eric Cockle - with almost 30 years in the game at Chubb :sheesh - I just turned 30 🙈: for keeping me & Diauntae Morrow, MBA on task. He did provide what may be the line of the day (insurance) "is all the same until you have a claim" 😳 which is why the value of (especially) the independent agent is the highest it's ever been. The industry has young GOATS in the game like these and then the true OG #NAAIA founder Jerald L. Tillman, LUTCF & his passion for excellence & opportunities for all people. One takeaway from our session is that he called for the need in accessing new carrier partners in giving black wealth a chance. :::: Fun fact: According to the Fed Reserve's survery of consumer finances, median net worth between 2019 & 2022 grew 60%. :::: Shoutout to Encova Insurance for providing me a platform in calling for and most importantly being apart of the change. A gentle reminder to all is that - In action is no longer an excuse to sit by and just do things a certain way - just because it's always been done that way. Let's do business, while putting the "peeps" back in the people business! As Jose(Joe) C. says often we are #changingthegame :: Others who have some good pictures from the event - feel free to add them in the comments :: Authencally me, -bcj 🙏🏾 #insurance #innovation #management #careers #future #branding #motivation #sales
