October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a crucial time to highlight the impact of breast cancer on our communities, particularly among Black women. Statistics show that Black women are diagnosed with breast cancer at a younger age and often face more aggressive forms of the disease compared to other groups. It's vital to prioritize early detection through regular screenings and self-examinations, as this can significantly improve outcomes. We encourage everyone to learn about their risk factors, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and support one another in this journey. Let's come together to raise awareness, share resources, and empower our community. Together, we can make a difference. 💖 We are never giving up Hope. 🎀 #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #BlackWomen #EarlyDetection #NAAWLI

NAAWLI sends its support to all impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. We also encourage our base of leaders to "lead from where you are," whether that means sharing a post with resources, opening your home to evacuated friends and family, praying for and with the impacted community, donating money and resources, or using your platform to spread awareness and teach others how to prepare for a natural disaster. Do not minimize the impact of your action. It all matters, and it is all needed. Please feel free to share local support resources in the comments below. #HurricaineHelene #HurricaineMilton #FloridaStrong #NCStrong #Lead

This month we celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “Your health is a treasure, and early detection can make all the difference.“- Kara Barker,MHR,CPCU, CLU NAAWLI Brand Ambassador. Breast cancer is a significant health concern, affecting more women than any other type of cancer and being the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women. While Black women get diagnosed with breast cancer less often than white women, they are about 40% more likely to lose their lives to the disease. It's a serious issue that highlights the need for better healthcare access and support for all women. Early detection saves lives. 💖 🩺 Show your body love and respect with regular self-checks. Regularly checking your breasts may help you find breast cancer early, when it’s more likely to be treated successfully. #BreastHealthInitiative #BreastCancerAwareness #WomensHealth #LiveYourBestLife #CancerSucks #YourHealthMatters

Empowering women in the workplace, particularly Black women, goes beyond mentorship; it requires proactive sponsorship that actively push for growth and create opportunities. Research shows that while women of color make up 17% of the workforce, they hold only 3% of executive leadership roles. This stark disparity highlights the urgent need for sponsors who can advocate for and elevate their careers. At NAAWLI, we urge those with power and decision-making roles to step up and go beyond just giving advice. It’s time to actively invest in the growth of others. For all individuals with positional power and have decision rights— here’s your assignment: Sponsor a NAAWLI graduate who does not reflect your past self but has the potential, knowledge, talent and drive to succeed. This commitment not only brings everyone together but also levels up organizations with different viewpoints and experiences.
