  • Meet Argyle Smallwood, CASP, Business Officer at North Carolina Central University, one of the newest members to join the elite group of Certified Auxiliary Services Professionals. "My supervisor first introduced NACAS and CASP to me a year after I started working in Campus Enterprises. He encouraged all his managers to study and sit for the CASP exam. This was my first time hearing of this association and certification so I decided to research to see what they were about. After researching it, I felt that this certification would help advance my skills and expertise in the field of auxiliary services. I felt that the professional growth and expertise I would gain from this certification would help better equip me to manage the complex challenges and opportunities with managing auxiliary services in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Also, during my research, I discovered that the CASP certification was a widely recognized credential within the field of auxiliary services, and I felt that earning it would open new opportunities for career growth. Testing has always given me anxiety and I knew I had to be creative with my study habits to overcome it. My study habits were designed to offer a well-rounded approach to learning, combining multiple methods to reinforce and deepen my understanding of the material. These included watching videos, participating in the cohorts, reviewing multiple PowerPoint presentations, and listening to self-recorded study sessions. Each of these strategies played a vital role in my preparation. So, my journey was filled with highs and lows, but having a husband and supervisor that encouraged and believed in my abilities pushed me past the lows and redirected my focus on the highs." Meet Sokol Mato, CASP Director of Auxiliary Enterprises at Montgomery College one of our newest members to become a Certified Auxiliary Services Professional. Why CASP: "I chose CASP to enhance my expertise in the auxiliary services functional areas, to obtain additional skills, and to build confidence as a new college executive at my institution."     Study Process: "The Virtual CASP Prep Course recording was extremely helpful for me. This recording covers all the content areas on the exam. I studied at my own time. I could pause and go back to review difficult topics. The recording contains study techniques on what areas of auxiliary services to focus on. The Study Cohort groups were also very helpful, because they give you the opportunity to ask questions and interact with your peers."
