The National Council for Mental Wellbeing is pleased to announce the 2024-2025 Behavioral Health Training Institute for Health Officials program. Up to 20 health officials will be selected to participate in the tenth cohort of this engaging 7-month professional development initiative providing them with direct access to training and technical assistance opportunities to advance mental health and substance use prevention efforts across the country. Included in this initiative is freeaccess to the National Council’s 2025 Conference in Philadelphia, PA with tailored conference programming for health officials. The reports outline the unmet applied epidemiology workforce and capacity needs across the U.S. within state, territorial, and big cities health departments. The ability of the U.S. public health system to protect us from current and emerging health threats is at stake. The capacity to deliver essential epidemiology public health services for the U.S. has declined — and is in danger of declining further due to lack of sustained federal funding, especially with the end of COVID-19 funding.
