Delivery, delivery, delivery... Can Flagship solve the delivery hurdle? They have a new company to try. Mirai Bio was announced this morning to work on next-gen. LNPs. The company's leadership is also involved in Tessera, another Flagship company. https://lnkd.in/gDYtyt7z Genetic medicines have been, are, and will be, hampered by delivery. The LNPs of the pandemic saved the world, but hampered efforts into next-gen. delivery in a big way. Work on novel delivery vehicles and capabilities is only just starting to be revved back up again. I'm personally excited for these sorts of technologies along with other modalities like polymeric vehicles (e.g., Nanite). If you missed the news, we're thrilled to share that Nanite received a $1.8M grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to develop AI-driven gene therapy for HIV. With this funding, Nanite will employ its SAYER platform to design and optimize polymeric delivery vehicles to deliver DNA-encoded therapeutics, thereby durably producing therapeutic antibodies in vivo. Success would represent a significant breakthrough in HIV management, particularly in populations with limited access to care.
