At Nanoramic, we are thrilled to have amazing interns join us each summer and take on impactful and challenging roles. Continuing with our Q&A series highlighting our summer interns, we are excited for Jordan Tierney, a Battery Materials Intern, to share more about their background and work this summer. 1) What sparked your interest in the field of batteries and interning at Nanoramic? Jordan: Studying materials science and engineering inspires me to want to solve important problems through materials development. One of the biggest issues globally right now is climate change, and batteries are going to be a critical part of that solution in so many ways. Nanoramic's work is really exciting to me because we are working to produce high-performance materials while eliminating harmful components like PFAS and NMP, without sacrificing efficiency. 2) What have you been working on this summer? Jordan: I've spent a lot of time in the lab this summer, with my main focus being on electrode production, especially electrode coating. However, I've been lucky to get exposure to every part of battery development, from slurry production to cell assembly and testing. One of the things I've really liked about my time at Nanoramic is the variety of tasks I've gotten to work on, which has allowed me to learn a lot very quickly. 3) What are your future goals and what skills or knowledge have you gained during your internship that you hope to use in achieving those goals? Jordan: I'm not exactly sure what the future holds, but one thing that is really important to me is using engineering to make a difference. Working at Nanoramic has helped me understand so much more about the challenges and opportunities in the battery industry, and given me the chance to learn from so many people who are passionate about solving those problems. Being a part of such a dynamic team has given me a lot of flexibility and experience in different areas, which will be useful no matter what comes next for me. 4) What has been your favorite part about interning at Nanoramic, including outside of the work itself? Jordan: The best part has definitely been the people. Working for a smaller company has the benefit of getting to know and work with everyone in the team. Everyone at Nanoramic works so well together and is more than happy to help, and as an intern, that's really valuable because I feel comfortable asking anyone a question or to explain what they are working on, which has helped me learn so much. I'm so grateful I have the opportunity to work with such a great team as we've got at Nanoramic! If you are interested or know someone interested in an exciting, challenging, and rewarding internship opportunity, please reach out to us! #Internship #SummerInternship #STEM #CleanTech #CleanEnergy #BatteryTechnology #Neocarbonix
