#NASW stands in solidarity with Americans of Puerto Rican descent and offers them our support. The association condemns racist comments about Puerto Rico and people who are Black, Palestinian and Jewish made on Sunday by a comedian at a rally for GOP presidential nominee Donald #Trump in New York's Madison Square Garden. #Hate incidents are on the rise in the United States. Please visit NASW's Mobilizing Against Hate webpage for resources social workers can use to help end hate: https://lnkd.in/e8UqTNT3

A Heartfelt Thank You to Everyone Who Made National Association of Social Workers - Wisconsin Chapter 50th Annual Conference a Success! 🌟 As President of NASW-WI, I want to express my deep gratitude to the 500 + participants who joined us from near and far—across states from Alabama to Washington, and as far away as Uganda, Morocco, the Bahamas, and Guam. Your presence made this event a truly global celebration of social work’s impact and resilience. This year’s theme, “Social Work Power: Advancing Equity for Change,” reflects our commitment to driving systems change for a more just and equitable society. Together, we explored how to harness our collective power to advocate for equity and positively shape the communities we serve. A special thank you to our Generous Sponsors: • Ally Sponsors: Aspirus Health University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of Social Welfare • Supporting Sponsors: The Family Therapy Training Institute of Aurora Family Service, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire-Social Work, Mount Mary University, and Miramont Behavioral Health Your support has been invaluable in bringing this conference to life and enabling us to gather, learn, and inspire one another. Thank you all for your dedication to the profession and your passion for creating change. Here’s to another 50 years of impact, growth, and advancing equity together! #NASWWI #SocialWorkPower #AdvancingEquity #SocialWork #CommunityImpact #ThankYou #Gratitude #SocialWorkConference #MSW #BSW #SocialWorkCommunity #LCSW #APSW #LMSW

This October, we celebrate LGTBQ+ History Month. This is a time when we observe and uplift past LGBTQ+ accomplishments and voices. You can check out the Wisconsin LGBTQ+ History Project to learn more about the history and heritage of local gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. As social workers, we can make a difference this month by uplifting LGBTQ+ voices in our work and taking steps to make our workspaces more welcoming and inclusive for all.

Check out a preview from the NASW magazine! The study of substance use treatment and prevention in social work practice can be a moving target in many ways. “It’s an ever-evolving field because new problems, new issues emerge and require our response,” says Dr. Diana DiNitto, the Cullen Trust Centennial Professor in Alcohol Studies and Education at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work, University of Texas at Austin. Smith, LCSW, author of the new book, "Difficult: Mothering Challenging Adult Children Through Conflict and Change." Her research focuses on the impact having a “difficult adult child” has on aging mothers. October is Bullying Prevention Month. This month, we raise awareness about the impact of bullying and advocate for safe, inclusive environments for all. Social workers in schools and beyond have a crucial role in supporting individuals affected by bullying and fostering resilience in our communities. Let's think about ways we can promote kindness and acceptance in our workplaces and brainstorm strategies to prevent bullying and support those affected.
