NASFAA seeks to bring together a community of graduate and professional (GP) financial aid administrators to engage in thoughtful conversations about graduate and professional student borrowing — and NASFAA’s policy positions in that area — in the context of the current political climate as well as what is in the long-term best interest for students. The group will compose and suggest guiding advocacy/policy principles as they relate to graduate financial aid and borrowing within the context of the larger financial aid environment. NASFAA encourages GP-only FAAs, as well as FAAs who work with both undergraduate and GP students, to apply: https://lnkd.in/eUTE4Ng5

Happy Financial Aid Day! 🥳 Celebrated each year on the third Wednesday in October, #FinancialAidDay is a special day set aside to celebrate and recognize the contribution of all financial aid professionals across the United States for helping students make their college-going dreams a reality. On Financial Aid Day, colleagues are encouraged to do something special—have an office party 🎉, a potluck 🥘, a toast 🥂, etc.—to celebrate financial aid administrators, leaders, and consultants' contributions to the profession. What is your office doing to celebrate the occasion?

A message from Juan "Chico" Dimas for Indigenous Peoples Day: "Every day, we honor our ancestors and the diverse communities with whom we share this Earth. Indigenous Peoples Day invites us to come together in recognition of both the visible and the often-overlooked contributions of Indigenous peoples. In honor of my Elders and yours, I personally invite you to join us on November 8 at noon ET, as I have a heart to heart conversation with NASFAA's one and only Tim Maggio on what Native American Heritage Month means in depth. Attendees will receive a good blessing, and all are welcome into our gathering as we celebrate the deep richness of what makes Native American Heritage Month an important celebration of all relations." Join Chico and Tim for a special episode of Voices of NASFAA: https://lnkd.in/eavgusUH
Voices of NASFAA will be honoring Native American Heritage Month with Juan "Chico" Dimas on November 8 at noon ET. Chico is a financial aid advisor at the University of Denver and has been in the world of financial aid since 2018. Most recently, he was a member of the 2023-24 Diversity Leadership Program. As we dive into Chico’s story, we will also take some time to reflect on Native American Heritage Month and what it means for our community and profession.

The Department of Education, on October 10, updated its Beta Central page for the 2025-26 #FAFSA, where it identified and implemented a fix for an unknown error message impacting 10% of applicants: https://lnkd.in/eyz2kxEG The error, which was observed during the department’s in-person user observation events, occurred during the creation of a StudentAid.gov account within the FAFSA form itself. “The Department continues to prioritize and invest in fixing issues that impact the FAFSA user experience,” the update read. “As we move closer to the general availability of the 2025–26 form on or by Dec. 1, we will continue to work quickly to resolve issues and report them on this page.”
