National Basketball Players Association (NBPA)

This weekend, the champions of The Throne high school basketball national championship tournament celebrated with a special trip to Madison Square Garden courtesy of the New York Knicks and JPMorganChase. Following their victories, the championship teams also received a grant from the NBPA Foundation to support their athletic programs. 

On the eve of The Throne high school basketball national championship tournament, the participating teams came together for a special welcome dinner with several panel discussions designed to provide the players with the essential tools for success on and off the court. The tournament is underway with all games airing on NBA TV and the NBA App. Launched in 2023 by Gold Level Sports and Entertainment and the NBPA, The Throne was created under the guidance of GLSE’s player advisory board, which includes current and former NBPA members Danny Green, Harrison Barnes, Fred VanVleet, Dwight Howard and Rudy Gay. The Throne was designed as a curated experience for high school basketball players and provides a platform for elite competition while fostering the development of fundamental life skills off the court. 

The NBPA, NBA 2K, and the HOOPBUS brought the excitement of All-Star Weekend to Starr King Elementary in San Francisco! Shoutout to the students and staff of Starr King for a fun day of basketball in the Bay.

This All-Star Weekend, the NBPA Foundation partnered with NBA Cares and Stephen Curry's Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation to support the league's Day of Service at East Oakland Pride Elementary. NBPA Executive Director Andre Iguodala and Player Engagement Director Shaun Livingston joined their former teammate and close friend to volunteer and uplift the beloved Oakland community.

The NBPA has elected Karl-Anthony Towns and Gabe Vincent as the newest Vice Presidents on the NBPA Executive Committee, while Jaylen Brown was re-elected for a third term as Vice President. Learn more about their roles: https://lnkd.in/eyE6wWcQ

The NBPA has named David Kelly as Managing Director and General Counsel. In this role, Kelly bolsters the Union’s veteran leadership team with more than a decade of experience at the Golden State Warriors, where he served as Chief Legal Officer, Business and Basketball and Chief Business Officer of Golden State Entertainment.
