“When one door closes, a window opens.” It’s a phrase Sarah Firestone’s father says to her often, and one that describes her FFA experiences. After a hip injury sidelined her equestrian dreams, Sarah Firestone found a new path through FFA, embracing opportunities and making her mark at Lampeter-Strasburg High School in Pennsylvania. In addition to serving as her chapter’s president, she was selected to serve on the Pennsylvania Farm Show Junior Committee. Her maturity and dedication to the group’s success, as noted by her FFA advisor Holly Oberholtzer, are qualities that truly set her apart. Now 90% recovered from her surgeries, Sarah continues to carry her dad’s words of wisdom with her. FFA members had the profound honor of helping line the streets for the motorcade of the 39th President, Jimmy Carter, as he traveled to his beloved hometown of Plains, Georgia, to be laid to rest alongside his wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter. A former FFA member, President Carter spent his life advocating for agriculture and exemplifying tradition, humility, and service. This heartfelt tribute reflects the enduring legacy of a leader who inspired countless lives and remained deeply connected to the values of FFA and his roots in agriculture. Thank you, President Carter, for the lasting impact you've made.
