The NVA Heroes at St. Johns Veterinary Hospital are saving Florida’s wildlife–one animal at a time. 🦉🦅🦚    Since 2010, St. Johns Veterinary Hospital has saved hundreds of wild animals in northeast Florida. When they’re not busy caring for the pets of St. Augustine, they’re volunteering to care for sick and injured wildlife–from tiny turtles 🐢 to baby herons 🐦 to magnificent pelicans.    Most recently, the team healed a barred owl whose X-rays revealed a cracked beak. 🦉 They cured an injured American Woodcock with a ruptured eye. 🐦 And they helped a weak and ill juvenile pelican fly again. Thanks to St. Johns, each of these animals recovered and were sent for rehabilitation before they could be released back into the wild. And they all represent just one chapter in a 15-year partnership with The Ark Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation.    For the team at St. Johns, their work with The Ark embodies their mission to protect, rehabilitate, and release wildlife in need. For them, it’s more than just veterinary care. They're preserving Florida's wildlife and ecosystem. 🦅    "It's been an incredibly rewarding experience to see how our combined efforts positively impact local wildlife populations," said Suzanne Price, Hospital Manager at St. Johns Veterinary Hospital. Today, on National K9 Veterans Day, we honor Scout, a retired police K9 from the Bonner Springs Police Department in Kansas, who lost his battle with lung cancer earlier this year. NVA’s Southside Pet Hospital helped honor Scout during his final moments. 💙     “Thank you to those who attended and paid their respects with a final salute," said the Southside Pet Hospital team. "It’s a touching tribute to a loyal companion’s service and legacy.”   During Scout’s 5 years of service with the Bonner Springs Police Department, he:  🐾 Earned 4th place in the 2017 National Police Canine Association (NPCA) Narcotics competition in 2017 🐾 Was awarded NPCA Patrol Case of the Quarter for his apprehending a felony suspect    🐾 Helped apprehend 14 criminals and assisted in locating 2 missing juveniles    🐾 Seized hundreds of illegal items, including firearms and $15K, and contributed to 100+ drug-related arrests    Please take a moment this evening to remember Scout and all K9 veterans to ensure their legacies are never forgotten. 💙    🎥: NVA’s SOUTHSIDE PET HOSPITAL, INC. in Olathe, KS #NVACommunity #NationalK9VeteransDay #vetmed #veterinarymedicine
