I am excited to share that I've just completed my internship with Nature Trust Malta! Over the past few months, this journey has been incredibly enriching, allowing me to immerse myself in a diverse range of activities. These experiences have not only provided me with invaluable hands-on experience but have also allowed me to contribute meaningfully to the preservation of Malta's unique ecosystem. Engaging in hands-on activities, like invasive species control and native vegetation planting, has given me a deeper understanding of environmental restoration. Tackling real-world challenges has improved my problem-solving skills, encouraging me to develop innovative solutions. I've had the privilege of conducting research to conserve the Mediterranean Killifish, Malta's national fish. This involved building shallow artificial habitats, a first-of-its-kind project that required a lot of trial-and-error. I developed a series of four prototypes, with the final design made of concrete and floating just under the surface, offering shelter and protection for the fish. I want to thank James Gabarretta and Benjamin Camilleri for their invaluable guidance and support during my internship at Nature Trust Malta. Your expertise and support have been key to my professional growth, and I'm thankful for the chance to learn from you. I am immensely grateful to Nature Trust - FEE Malta for this enriching opportunity and look forward to continuing my journey in environmental conservation.
