We’re excited to share that Nava Labs has been selected a finalist for the Robin Hood AI Poverty Challenge award! This $100,000 award will support our research on how #AI might expand access to public benefits. Building simple, effective, and accessible government services for all. Want to contribute? We're hiring!
About us
Nava is a consultancy and public benefit corporation working to make government services simple, effective, and accessible to all. Nava emerged from the effort to rebuild HealthCare.gov after its troubled launch, and exists to address some of the most complex challenges in the public sector. We’re thinkers and designers of civic technology. We work holistically across engineering, research, design, and operations to proactively envision the services of a better future. We build with empathy and inclusion, and as we come from many backgrounds and countries ourselves, we seek and value different perspectives.

We recently hosted a panel discussion on government-run online #TaxFiling, exploring lessons learned and the road ahead at the federal and state levels! The group discussed what made federal #DirectFile a success, how governments can apply these practices elsewhere, how Direct File can scale to more users, and what the path looks like for achieving state direct file nationwide. The discussion of state tax filing featured a live demo of Code for America’s #FileYourStateTaxes. Our panel included: —Gabriel Zucker, Program Director, Tax Policy and Partnerships, Code for America —Sneha Pai, Director of Design, Nava —Natalie Alms, Staff Reporter, Nextgov/FCW If you missed the event, you can watch the video recording here: https://lnkd.in/eFQNjkQm We hope to see you at another future event!

What does a day in the life of a project manager at Nava look like? Well, in this new article, our very own Michelle Garfinkel gives us a sneak peak! Apart from typical duties like keeping projects on track, Michelle dives deeper into her role building sustainable team operations and long term momentum. She also highlights the importance of forming strong, clear, and transparent relationships with government partners – and what that actually looks like in practice. Outside of work, Michelle is an artist, providing self-described counterbalance to project manager life. Read the full article to learn more: https://lnkd.in/g-KgBCwU

Nava is honored to announce that we’ve won an unrestricted prime award on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)' Office of Grants Software Integration and Frontend Technology (SWIFT) bulk purchasing agreement (BPA). This five-year, $100M contract vehicle award enables us to continue supporting HHS’ Office of Grants’ critical work. Last year, Nava began work with HHS to help redesign Grants.gov, a website that is the front door for grants across the federal government and disburses more than $500 billion in grants every year impacting states, nonprofits, and community organizations across the country. Looking forward, we’re excited to find new ways to collaborate with the Office of Grants under the SWIFT BPA. We’ll support their work overseeing federal grantmaking, offering training and development to grantees, and operating Grants.gov, where over ten million people find and apply for federal grants. For more details, see the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/gse_pKZW #CivicTech #GovTech #ContractVehicles
