· The 2024 NAVFAC PW8 Summit was recently held at Naval Station Mayport in Florida. The NAVFAC Public Works Directorate has 8 departments, and Energy Management is the 8th department, hence the nickname PW8. This year's summit brought NAVFAC teammates together from the entire enterprise, including NAVFAC HQ, NAVFAC Atlantic, NAVFAC Pacific, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Europe Africa Central (EURAFCENT) and NAVFAC EXWC Representatives of the U.S. Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Energy Division Resource Efficiency Manager (REM) Program also gave presentations during the three-day energy event. Over the course of the summit, energy management teammates from each echelon collaborated and discussed challenges and potential solutions. By coordinating ideas and working together, we will be in the best position possible to overcome any obstacle! #TeamNAVFAC #NAVFAC #NAVFACSE #NAVFACSoutheast #Energy #PW8Summit

Restoring the Shores: Dune Restoration Project Underway at Naval Station Mayport.
You might have noticed some construction at Naval Station Mayport's beaches 🚧🏖 This is part of a $10.6M contract we awarded last year to restore the dunes ravaged by Hurricanes Ian and Nicole, as well as ongoing tidal erosion. “A key element to this project is to ensure the habitat protection of native animals that live or nest in the dunes,” said Benjamin Yang, construction manager assigned to Public Works Department at NS Mayport. 🐢 “The team has maintained a vigilant watch over a Loggerhead turtle nest, waiting for the hatchlings to make their way to the sea before proceeding with work in that area.” 🔗 Read our linked article to learn more about this on-going project #NAVFACSE #NAVFACSoutheast #NSMayport #DuneRestoration #BeachRestoration
