The Navisun team is feeling energized after a great time at RE+ Mid-Atlantic last week. We had incredible conversations involving domestic content, state-specific legislation, and development activity. Equally importantly, we connected with exceptional developers, valued vendors, and potential future partners who know these markets well. We're looking forward to all of the exciting things ahead in this important region.

For one landowner in Australia, a solar farm has increased wool production by 15%. And yet solar grazing and other "agrivoltaics" are still under-utilized in Australia (and across the world) because many developers, despite saying they want to develop these kinds of sites, don't take the necessary steps sooner in the development process to ensure that the project comes together in a way that works for everyone. As developers and owner-operators of #agrivoltaics – a market we continue to be excited about – we appreciated this recent article from Grist. The article doesn't just highlight the proven mutual benefits of agrivoltaics done right, but it puts it so well: "Developers need to be talking to landowners earlier than they currently are." At Navisun, we make sure we take the time to understand the unique needs of every landowner we work with, and their property, to ensure the projects we develop produce the best results for everyone – because, as this article shows, when done well, it works.

Last week, Navisun's John Stroud, Brendan Canavan, (pictured below) and Nathan Knapke spent a productive three days in Denver discussing the future of #communitysolar, engaging on policy and program design, and meeting with top tier developers in the community solar space at Coalition for Community Solar Access' (CCSA) Innovation Summit. Navisun is committed to driving productive partnerships and adding value wherever needed. We look forward to continuing this important work and to seeing many of you in Philadelphia in July.

"These episodes highlight how the #globalenergytransition will encompass far more than just the switch away from fossil fuels. Beyond building out cheap #solar and #wind in the coming decades, the world may also need to embrace nuclear power, drastically alter our existing land use patterns, and fundamentally rebuild our transportation and electricity systems from the ground-up. There are many paths to a sustainable global energy economy of the future, but countries around the world will need to contend with deep political, economic, and social questions along the way in order to make this vision a reality." Even in our free time, we're thinking about the #renewableenergytransition and all the paths it can take. If you're interested in some great podcast recommendations, our structured finance associate, Matthew Livesay, recently shared two episodes with the team: Odd Lots (Epidsode: Rethinking Market Mechanisms for the Green Energy Transition): https://bloom.bg/3Xjft2C Ezra Klein Show (Episode: Is Green Growth Possible?): https://apple.co/4aU53tf

Sometimes, the impacts of the renewable energy transition aren't always tangible (at least not immediately). Other times, as our own Nathaniel Russell pointed out when he shared this recent piece by pv magazine USA, they indeed are, and they can hit close to home. "I often visualize the effect our work has on the planet but I don’t often visualize the impact our work has on the day to day health of my family and friends. My son and several of my immediate family members struggle with their long term respiratory health and my work literally helps them breathe easier every day. It brings the impact of my day to day work down to level I can see and feel."
Research shows wind and solar produce tens of billions in U.S. health benefits per year
