Upgrades are coming to Neighborhood Health Center’s dental department, thanks to a $150,000 grant from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation (Delta Dental Ins.)! The funds will help pay for new equipment in our Northwest site’s dental operatories. “At Neighborhood, we believe good quality dental care should be accessible and affordable for everyone. We're grateful to Delta Dental for believing in us and making this investment,” said Dr. Chad Kahler, dental director at Neighborhood.

Welcome to Neighborhood, Paige Szarafin, LMSW! Paige joins Neighborhood's behavioral health team as a social worker. She is a graduate of University at Buffalo and specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Paige's favorite thing is being an advocate, teammate, and cheerleader for her patients as they pursue their goals. "My love for that collaboration is what drives me in my career," said Paige. #WelcometoNeighborhood

Neighborhood Registered Dietitians (right to left) Zak Collins, Tanisha Gonzalez, and Dana Ingebretson shared their knowledge at the National Association of Diabetes and Education Specialists conference in New Orleans this month. Their presentation, called "Strategies to Increase Utilization of CGM and Support Primary Care Professionals", highlighted steps Neighborhood has taken to increase access to Continuous Glucose Monitors for patients with diabetes, and make the prescription process simpler for primary care providers. #WelcometoNeighborhood #healthequity

At Neighborhood Health Center, we value inclusivity and diversity. We recognize historical, institutional, and systemic barriers to equity, and we commit to improve health outcomes in the communities we serve. We celebrated those values with our staff and community at the Puerto Rican & Hispanic Day Parade on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who participated! #WelcomeToNeighborhood #community #healthequity

Thank you for the special recognition, Congressman Nick Langworthy, for our Health in Motion Mobile Unit, and thank you for prioritizing primary care. The bus is helping us meet people where they are with healthcare as part of our work toward a healthy and equitable Western New York. #WelcometoNeighborhood #community

Welcome to Neighborhood, Kellsey Medsger, PA-C! Kellsey is from Pittsburgh and has joined Neighborhood Health Center's internal/family medicine team as a physician assistant (PA). During PA school, Kellsey did a clinical rotation at busy, rural clinic where many patients lived outside a reasonable driving distance of medical specialists. As a result, they relied on their primary care provider for comprehensive and accessible care for a wide range of concerns. "That experience taught me the importance of building strong relationships with patients as a primary care provider, and doing our best to provide necessary support to meet all of a patient's needs," said Kellsey. #WelcometoNeighborhood

Today we celebrated expanded access to high quality, affordable healthcare! Thank you to NYS Sen. Patrick Gallivan, Assemblymember Jon Rivera, Gov. Kathy Hochul's regional rep. Bonnie Kane Lockwood, and Marie Mongeon from Community Health Care Association of NYS for joining our team to cut the ribbon for Neighborhood Health Center's Health In Motion Mobile Unit. This bus will help us work toward our mission of achieving health equity in our community. We recently purchased the bus from Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York, thanks to a NYS Department of Health grant. We've been providing healthcare services on the bus to Buffalo Public Schools students since 2019. With the purchase, we're now able to add community events and provide healthcare services to all ages! Here's some of what we've achieved through the bus so far since 2019: 436 patient visits, 380 physicals and well child checks, and 970 shots administered. Happy National Health Center Week! #WelcometoNeighborhood #sdoh #healthequity
