NEMIC is a nonprofit HealthTech Incubator and Accelerator in downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Its mission is to support entrepreneurs and accelerate startups in achieving their vision of impactful medical devices and healthcare solutions for the world’s health challenges. Ultimately, we help usher technologies to market that improve the healthcare experience worldwide. This is done through cutting-edge educational programming, events, and a collaborative innovation center. The NEMIC team has decades of combined medical device development and entrepreneurial experience, alongside an extensive network of expert advisors who can simplify clinical access and regulatory (FDA) strategy/pathways and ultimately facilitate connections between early-stage startups and funding sources. Over the summer, NEMIC orchestrated the Global Build-Up Education Program in partnership with the Korea Institute of Toxicology. This program was designed to help early-stage Korean life science companies plan a strategic entry into the US market and offered a virtual curriculum focused on essential aspects of startup development, pitch preparation, and fundraising and exit strategy, a curriculum that NEMIC is already very familiar with. The program ran from July to September and featured 20+ participants per session. It covered 14 critical topics essential for success in the US life science landscape, including US Life Science Investment Overview, Technology Transfer, Regulatory Strategy for Bio/Pharma Startups, and more. Kicked off Monday with one of our most critical classes, Commercial Viability, the second course in our MedTech Leadership Program. Excited to have our largest cohort yet, with 46 incredible participants. Spent today at the Women's Health Innovation Series where I had the opportunity to listen to inspiring panelists and hear pitches from innovative startups focused on transforming women’s health. Ended the day with some peace and quiet at the beautiful Boston Public Library—the perfect way to recharge before heading home. More to experience in the days ahead!
