More accolades for the Washoe Housing Authority! 🏆 🏆 The Washoe Housing Authority recently won a statewide award for developing 20 homes and a community building to serve members of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California. Last week, the Nevada Housing Coalition honored WHA with the "Digging In" award at the organization's annual conference. The award recognizes WHA "for demonstrating grit and determination in tackling the complex challenges of affordable housing by rolling up their sleeves and 'digging in' to the work needed to drive meaningful progress." WHA was also named the Project Team of the Year during the 24th Annual Travois Conference. Congrats to WHA — we're proud to be a partner on this important project! Your voice matters. You are invited to participate in a community discussion about fair housing challenges and opportunities in #ClarkCounty! Your participation will inform a Regional Fair Housing and Equity Assessment (RFHEA) for Southern Nevada including Clark County, Las #Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson. This planning effort contributes to meeting goals and obligations under federal fair housing rules. It's a condition of receiving funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The RFHEA is a five-year plan. The County is hosting a series of in person and virtual meetings on October 31. These meetings will be facilitated discussions around community concerns related to housing challenges and opportunities. There's more work to do but more much needed affordable housing is now open in So. Nevada. #ClarkCounty was pleased to join Ovation Property Management as it held the official grand opening of the Tempo IV Senior Affordable Housing Community. Commissioner Jim Gibson, County Manager Kevin Schiller and member of Community Housing team were in attendance along with Governor Joe Lombardo and Congresswoman Dina Titus. Tempo IV is located in the southeast Las #Vegas Valley. There are 208 brand new apartments dedicated to low-income seniors. About 100 seniors have already moved in. This is the first "Welcome Home" Community Housing Fund (https://lnkd.in/gKXVqMVC) project to open. Clark County committed $4.5 million in CHF funds to this project, along with $1.8 million in Clark County U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development HOME funds. With this opening it means that since 2021, Clark County has contributed funding to approximately 4,700 units of affordable housing in our community. Ovation has designed a community with a host of amenities including an on-site salon and wellness center. This will allow residents to get things like hair appointments and visits from doctors without having to leave the premises. There are other wraparound services provided by Coordinated Living of Southern Nevada and a pantry that in partnership with Three Square food bank will help these residents fight food insecurity issues.
