Joe Huerta started his career with the NNSS as an intern, and from there, he progressed as an engineer developing control systems. His responsibilities have grown over the years, and he is now a deputy engineering manager. Huerta has worked at various NNSS facilities and is currently working on a very challenging control system project with the national laboratories. His career has spanned 20 years at the NNSS, and he plans to continue on even longer. “Hispanic Heritage Month means to me the opportunity to express and share our heritage, and to invite our friends to participate in our food, culture, and ways (the nuances growing up in a Hispanic family),” said Huerta. “It also means getting with family to continue traditions in food, relations, and cultural expressions.” #WeSecureAmericasFuture #nationalsecurity #NNSS #nnsspeople #nnssemployees #nnssemployee #nnsscommunity #WeAreNationalSecurity #HispanicHeritageMonth #NationalHispanicHeritageMonth #HispanicHeritage

Jesus Rodriguez has been a dedicated member of Hispanic Employee Resource Group since joining the NNSS in April 2023, where he serves as a senior safety specialist at Livermore Operations. With over 15 years of experience in safety across diverse industries, including biotech, medical, e-commerce, and consulting, he firmly believes that the health and safety of employees are paramount. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Occupational Health and Safety and is proud to be the first in his family to earn a college degree. Originally from Mexico City and raised in the San Joaquin Central Valley of California, he is passionate about community service, actively volunteering with a community emergency response team, youth programs, and as a soccer coach. “Hispanic Heritage Month is a cherished time to celebrate the vibrant culture, traditions, and contributions of the Hispanic community,” said Rodriguez. “Born in Mexico, I am blessed to call the United States my home while still honoring my heritage. A highlight of the NNSS for me has been the importance of unity and respect that is fostered to accomplish the mission.“ #WeSecureAmericasFuture #nationalsecurity #NNSS #nnsspeople #nnssemployees #nnssemployee #nnsscommunity #WeAreNationalSecurity #HispanicHeritageMonth #NationalHispanicHeritageMonth #HispanicHeritage

Emma Delgado has dedicated 40 years to the NNSS! To say that is quite an accomplishment is an understatement. She started as an intern, and then worked with the Security and Engineering departments before landing in Property Management. She states that this contract has been good to her, and she was able to create a home within the NNSS. “Hispanic Heritage Month is a chance to remember my roots,” said Delgado. “I was born and raised in New York, but I am still a part of my Puerto Rican roots and I LOVE IT!" #WeSecureAmericasFuture #nationalsecurity #NNSS #nnsspeople #nnssemployees #nnssemployee #nnsscommunity #WeAreNationalSecurity #HispanicHeritageMonth #NationalHispanicHeritageMonth #HispanicHeritage

🚀🎉 The STEM field trips for the 2024-2025 school year have officially launched! NNSS is excited to partner for the third year with the Clark County School District and the Atomic Museum, bringing STEM education to students across Southern Nevada! 🌟 “Having students at this age get exposed to STEM principles and real-world applications is crucial,” says NNSS Senior Engineer James Majdanac. “It allows them to connect the dots and see how their interests can lead to STEM careers. It also gives them the opportunity to talk to STEM professionals and ask how they got into the position that they’re in and what those stepping stones looked like in terms of schooling or training.” 🧑🔬🧑💻💡 With NNSS proudly sponsoring transportation and museum costs, this year’s program will inspire over 650 middle and high school students! 🙌 #WeSecureAmericasFuture #nationalsecurity #NNSS #nnsspeople #nnssemployees #nnssemployee #nnsscommunity #WeAreNationalSecurity #STEM #STEMEd #stemeducation

Although Ariel Ramos’ career at the NNSS has been brief in comparison to some of her colleagues, the mission is steeped in her bones as she grew up just a stone’s throw away from the Site. Since officially joining the NNSS in 2022, she has made several strides as a quality assurance specialist, working specifically in the calibration laboratory. She has contributed her expertise by helping the lab refine processes, documents, and even transitioning into the lab’s database administrator. Additionally, she currently serves as the Hispanic Employee Resource Group’s administrator. "Hispanic Heritage Month means a multitude of things to me, but most importantly, it celebrates the very core of who we are,” said Ramos. “It evokes a sense of pride in being able to share and rejoice with others in the cultural beauty and vibrancy that our heritage displays. It is also about inviting others to the kitchen table to enjoy and understand our communities’ contributions, meals and traditions.” #WeSecureAmericasFuture #nationalsecurity #NNSS #nnsspeople #nnssemployees #nnssemployee #nnsscommunity #WeAreNationalSecurity #HispanicHeritageMonth #NationalHispanicHeritageMonth #HispanicHeritage
