Today, the youth of Never Again International - Canada are marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by remembering the atrocities that took place at residential schools. We honour the survivors of residential schools and remember those who did not return home. Known as Orange Shirt Day, this day draws its name from the story of Phyllis (Jack) Webstad, whose orange shirt — a gift from her grandmother — was confiscated on her first day at a residential school in 1973. The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation estimated that more than 4,100 children died while attending the schools. #EveryChildMatters #OrangeShirtDay
