Our Troy office has a jigsaw puzzle perpetually set up in the front entryway. In September, we had an evening out at Bard & Baker Board Cafe, where we could choose from literally hundreds of games to play while we had dinner. What did half of this crew decide to do? Set up a jigsaw puzzle. 🤓

About us
New Leaf Energy is one of the leading developers of renewable energy and energy storage projects in the United States—both distributed generation and utility scale. Headquartered in Lowell, MA, with employees and projects spanning the country, New Leaf Energy was formed in 2022 out of Borrego’s market-leading solar and energy storage development business, which extends back to 1980. At New Leaf Energy, we partner with landowners, utilities, and local communities to secure, design, and permit commercial, community, and utility-scale renewable energy and energy storage projects and prepare them for sale to long-term asset owners. Together with our partners, we aim to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy in service of the goal of rapidly decarbonizing our society.

We declare our Troy, NY office....OPEN! While we've been moved in since the spring, we hosted an open house last week for our friends and neighbors. They didn't hesitate to try every flavor available in the Bevi machine and to challenge pinball champion (this is real) Amy Church to a match. And you know what else? A bunch of our partners STAYED TO HELP CLEAN UP. We ❤️ NY.

'Tis the season for America's favorite pastime! Recently, folks from our Boston and Lowell offices attended a Red Sox game in such full force that New Leaf was recognized in the pre-game ceremonies. And to cap it all off, the Sox won with a walk-off in the bottom of the 10th inning. Not a bad night, overall...

Milestone day for the Oakland office: this crew of NLE Oakland Ballers fans attended a San Francisco Giants game. It was Ahmad Rahim's first-ever pro baseball game, and they got to meet a real-life Giant! (We think it was the third base coach...) ⚾

Across New Leaf Energy, we're focused on implementing a practice of setting "tiny goals" as a way to hone our project management skills and ensure that our work is consistently progressing. Executive Assistant Olivia Basegio created a "Shrine to Tiny Goals" in one of our Oakland huddle rooms. All those colorful cards have tiny goals submitted by NLE Buds on them. (Please admire the pre-planning it took for Olivia to distribute colored cards in the proper ratios to create that tree!)

Employees from our Lowell and Boston offices recently gathered to donate their time for a river cleanup on the Merrimack River in Lowell, MA. Paddling instruction, gear, and regional history were provided by the UMass Lowell Outdoor Adventure Programs, whose mission is to "support the development of healthy, balanced lifestyles for the UMass Lowell community through outdoor recreation activities." 🛶

We're looking for our next Director of People + Culture. This person is a critical steward of the first two of NLE's core strategies: - "Lead with our culture. Nurture and continually refresh our culture, putting it at the center of everything we do, because it is our deepest advantage." - "Invest in our people. Challenge and empower our people to be the most capable team in the renewable energy industry." More below. We can't wait to meet you.

We love to see our team celebrated for how wonderful they are. And we're particularly proud of our own Jacqueline Ashmore, PhD's work with New England Women in Energy and the Environment (NEWIEE).
MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Jacqueline Ashmore, PhD is Executive Vice President of Engineering for New Leaf Energy, Inc., a NEWIEE Board Member and Mentoring Co-Chair, and past NEWIEE President (2018-2020). She loves to spend time with her husband and teenage daughters, run, bike, or read a good book. Earlier in her career, she also had an office from which she could see into Stephen Hawking's office! "NEWIEE is a powerful network that supports women and people from other underrepresented groups finding their first job in energy and the environment, advancing through their career, and rising into leadership positions. I have found wonderful long-term mentors and sponsors through NEWIEE, and I have mentored others too." Thanks for being a part of NEWIEE, Jacquie! #CareerMentoring #RenewableEnergyTransition #PeerMentoring
