Government Administration
The New York State Council on the Arts is dedicated to preserving and expanding the rich and diverse cultural resources.
About us
The New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) champions community and creativity by preserving and advancing all facets of the cultural heritage that makes New York State an exceptional place to live, work and visit. These aims are primarily achieved through the agency’s grant-making activity. Annually, the agency awards $41 Million to more than 1,200 organizations statewide. The projects, artists and organizations NYSCA supports reflect the richness and diversity of the State’s citizens and visitors. From New York City’s landmarks to traditional artisans in the North Country, from international dance companies to teaching artists in inner-city schools, the impact of the agency’s funding can be seen in all of the State’s 62 counties. Annually, NYSCA’s funding helps to engage new audiences, introduce children to the arts, drive artistic excellence and innovation, build organizational capacity and support our State’s pillar organizations. Created by Governor Nelson Rockefeller and the New York State Legislature in 1960, NYSCA is an agency of the Executive Branch of the New York State Government. Nonprofit organizations must prequalify to do business with New York State before they can compete for grants with any New York State agency. To become prequalified, a nonprofit must first register with the Statewide Financial System (SFS). Once registered, nonprofits complete an online prequalification application in SFS and submit it for review. Please note this process is separate and apart from the NYSCA application. You must first prequalify with State Financial System (SFS.) Organizations must remain prequalified through the application deadline (January 14, 2025) in order to be eligible for NYSCA’s FY25 Capital Project opportunity. Issues with prequalification are not likely to be resolved in less than seven business days. To register in the New York Statewide Financial System, visit: https://lnkd.in/ew-i4UGN For information on the New York State prequalification process, visit: https://lnkd.in/eS3rmWsw For technical help with SFS including login credentials, please contact the SFS Help Desk at helpdesk@sfs.ny.gov and identify yourself as a “NYSCA applicant” in the email subject line. Organizations who selected ART01 as their agency in their prequalification application in SFS can contact prequal@arts.ny.gov if they need further assistance.
