Elections impact way more than just policy… While the winner of the 2024 election will have a huge say in policy decisions coming out of D.C. - from immigration to abortion rights to taxes - it could change your favorite TV shows too. In the latest episode of Margin of Error, The Recount’s Steve Morris explores the cultural impact of presidential elections. In Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, Americans have vastly different choices. Who comes out on top will not only change the course of Hollywood and the media but could set the direction of the next era of American politics. Does turning 18 mean you’re an adult? Not if you ask Gen Z. A new study by Life Happens found that people feel that adulthood begins when you can pay your own bills, are financially independent, and prioritize responsibility over fun. With many of these milestones increasingly out of reach for people in their early twenties, it’s no wonder Gen Z think that, in the current climate, adulthood is more likely to begin around 27. **What an experience at The News Movement (TNM)!** I’m incredibly grateful to the entire TNM team, especially my amazing managers, Rebecca Hutson and Jonathan Paterson. This summer, I had the privilege of completing a 3-month internship with TNM, a digital news organisation targeting 18-30 year-olds. During my time, I assisted with production at high-profile events like the BBC Olympics press release, Wimbledon, red carpets, and even a police interview. In the office, I honed my skills in Photoshop and Premiere Pro, producing videos that achieved top engagement. One of the highlights was participating in daily morning pitches, where I presented story ideas that contributed to our content. It was rewarding to share insights from my feed as a Black British young person, it meant I could really step into my niche interests—science communication, the diaspora, international news and creatives specific to my feed—while practicing storytelling, and collaborating with such a passionate team. A standout project was conducting a data analysis of TNM’s performance over the summer. I presented findings on trends, content engagement, and competitor analysis to editor (Rebecca Hutson) and manging editor (Jonathan Paterson), enhancing my passion for presenting and research. Knowing that my insights are being implemented after my internship is something I’m incredibly grateful for, and I’m proud that the work I produced can be put into practice seamlessly. As a news fanatic, I’m excited to see how digital news will continue to evolve, and I hope platforms like TNM continue to create safe spaces for authentic information. A huge thank you to everyone at The News Movement 🙏🏿. #DigitalMedia #ContentCreation #InternshipExperience #News
