This summer, we proudly hosted the fourth annual Summer Institute of the Lazard New Visions for Public Schools Academy, a flagship initiative of the Lazard Foundation. The program offers New York City public high school students from under-resourced and historically marginalized communities a valuable opportunity to gain essential knowledge, experience, and connections that can shape their professional futures. At the conclusion of the summer, the students collaborated in teams to deliver capstone presentations, applying key business principles to formulate strategic investment recommendations. To cap off this year's institute, nearly 250 of the participating students from across 21 schools visited our offices at 30 Rockefeller Plaza last week. They spent the day networking with Lazard colleagues, connecting with fellow students, and participating in fireside chats with senior leadership members.

A big thank you to Steven Pearl for sharing such inspiring words with our Career Academy students this week! 🙌 He encouraged them to think about their strengths and passions, emphasizing that satisfaction that comes from doing what you love and are good at.  Steven also highlighted the importance of teamwork and shared that at Lazard, success comes from building high-performing teams that are greater than the sum of their parts.  He reminded our students that their capstone projects were a perfect reflection of this collaborative spirit. New Visions for Public Schools is grateful to Lazard for their support and the opportunity it represents for our future leaders and teachers! A huge thanks to Nicole Miles and Isabella Calvo for all their support in this partnership and a special shout out to Robin Blanc, Kimberley Cambridge Scott and E. Lydell Carter who managed this event.

We’re excited to announce the official launch of our Work-Based Learning (WBL) PD Series! This week, we welcomed passionate educators from across our Affinity network - Teachers, Counselors, WBL Coordinators, and Assistant Principals - ready to champion career-ready education for their students. This learning community will meet over the course of the school year to exchange best practices, all aimed at strengthening each school’s work-based learning program and preparing students for future success. We extend a special thank you to Monia Salam, Vice President of Career Connected Learning at ExpandED Schools, for leading a session on Work-Based Learning for CDOS Graduation Pathway. Lastly, a huge shout out to the CEPP department and our leads on this project, Emily Task and Elizabeth Ciarreta! New Visions for Public Schools kicked off our SEL/School Climate Professional Learning Series with an engaging session where schools reimagined discipline practices that center student humanity and disrupt negative outcomes for marginalized students. I'm encouraged to see so many schools pushing their thinking in this space. #equityineducation #ittakesavillage #socialemotionallearning

  • New Visions’ Instructional Network for School Improvement kicked off the year in a community of practice with leaders representing 9 high schools. As a network focused on Algebra I college readiness, leaders reflected on last year’s outcomes, set math equity goals for June 2025, and planned for implementing change ideas in the current PDSA cycle.  Over the course of the year, these leaders will come together at key points 4 more times to check-in on what we are learning together as a network, analyze data showing the impact of change ideas, and share leadership practices across schools.
