My stepfather and lifetime business mentor and partner Ron Burns turned 77 on Sunday. Ron married my mom when I was 8 years old and my life as a future entrepreneur began. Ron is old-school and put me in the warehouse from the time I was 9 until I was 15 when I started to install garage doors for his garage door company AR-BE Doors. This taught me the value of very hard work and putting the customer ahead of everything. At that time Ron was a pioneer of same-day garage door service and installation. (many years ahead of Amazon). Ron taught me and many others how to be a problem solver. Never any excuses, but just get it done now. We never went home until the job was done and the customer was happy. Old school hard work every day, every time. One of his favorite quotes is “there is no right way to do a wrong thing”. This meant always have integrity in everything you do for your team and customers. Put this at the center of everything. In 2002 Ron and I became partners starting NEXT Door & Window. I could not be more grateful to my father for showing me the true value of discipline, hard work, setting the standard, striving to be the best, and building trust through integrity. Happy Birthday to my stepfather Ron Burns. Thank you for being the hardest working, most loyal, and generous mentor and father that anyone could ask for.

At NDW, we believe in supporting our team members through quarterly one-on-one meetings where we set goals and "Rocks" to ensure everyone is making a difference within our organization. We encourage our team members to bring their own personal and professional goals/rocks to our meetings so we can help everyone achieve goals of their own creation. Rocks are the most important tasks or priorities that must be accomplished in a given quarter, helping to align teams and focus efforts on key targets. NEXT finds setting these Rocks crucial for individual growth and accountability. By setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals, we can ensure that our team is working towards our long-term objectives.     In Q2, NEXT had a great example of a crucial goal with a very tight deadline that was executed by team member Matt Slowiak.  Matt set his Rocks around launching our Costco Window configuration and pricing tool for a July start. This whole program was reliant on Matt and the Rocks he set to achieve this promising rollout. Matt’s determination and expertise were crucial in making this project a success, and we are grateful for his commitment to excellence in his work.  His goal of having this program up and running for the July start was attained, and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have on our Costco program.  Thank you, Matt, for your outstanding efforts in helping us reach this milestone and hitting your quarterly goals.   Let's rock this quarter together! #goalsetting #teamgrowth #organizationgoals
