Meet Rebekah Toddy, one of our wind and solar technical interns gaining invaluable experience this summer. She’s currently a student at State Technical College of Missouri, enrolled in their 2-year energy technology program and is working out of our Altamont Cluster Wind Site in Livermore, California. All our wind and solar technical interns this summer trained at NextEra Energy’s Renewable Training Center in Iowa. This new facility provides hands-on experience with the latest technologies and instruction from industry-leading professionals, and equips the next generation of energy leaders with the skills to excel in their on-site work. Through our internship program, we seek to grow talent and develop qualified technicians to support the country’s growing energy needs. There are 17 technical wind and solar interns from 11 schools across the country and Canada. #NextEraEnergy #TrainingExcellence #EnergyIndependence

Annual events such as #ClimateWeekNYC are great opportunities to take a step back and reflect on what has changed since we last met. This year, the biggest shift is the surge in power sector demand, presenting both opportunities and challenges for the energy transition. Rising demand driven by AI, industrial electrification and reshored manufacturing makes scaling renewables, storage and low- or no-carbon capacity more urgent than ever. We also need to rethink our grid infrastructure to support these changes. The urgency is clear - we must accelerate our progress. Reflecting on #ClimateWeekNYC, my final session of the week was at The Wall Street Journal, where I joined a conversation moderated by Willem Marx with Kate Brandt, Olivia Wassenaar and Daniel Hanna. Here are my key takeaways: ⏰ The time to act is now. Renewables are not just part of the solution—they are crucial to meeting growing energy demand. 💡 We need innovation and a collective systems approach, involving stakeholders across the power sector, government, finance and commercial entities, to address these challenges effectively. 💵 Significant capital investment is required. NextEra Energy Resources plans to invest roughly $70 billion in clean energy infrastructure such as renewable energy, storage and transmission in the next four years alone, but broader collaboration is essential. Conversations at forums like #ClimateWeekNYC are just the beginning; progress depends on the actions we take afterward. Let’s work together to accelerate change and create lasting impact. #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #InnovateforImpact

We have essentially completed restoration to all customers who can safely receive power in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, a devastating Category 4 storm that caused widespread outages throughout the Southeast. We are now focused on restoring power to the hardest-hit customers in our service areas while coordinating with the Governor's office and other industry partners to help restoration efforts across the Southeast U.S. http://spr.ly/6044U863Q

99.7% of customers restored following Helene; FPL converges on the hardest-hit areas and coordinates with the Governor’s office to help other utilities

My appreciation to the many teammates at Florida Power & Light and the tremendous amount of work it took to reach this significant milestone. It was truly a team effort. Turkey Point’s units have kept the lights on in Florida since they began commercial operations in 1972 and 1973. FPL customers can continue to rely on the Turkey Point team to safely operate the nuclear power plant for many years to come.

FPL’s Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant received U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission approval to operate for an additional 20 years, extending its legacy of providing safe, clean, reliable and low-cost energy for FPL customers to the 2050s. In addition to generating enough energy to power the equivalent of nearly 1 million homes and businesses, Turkey Point is a major community economic driver, plays a pivotal role supporting Florida’s growing population and provides a habitat for the threatened American crocodile and other native species.

Executive Vice President of Power Generation at NextEra Energy, Inc.

During my team’s recent business update, I had the opportunity to present a monograph from the book “Good to Great” by Jim Collins. This insightful read focuses on how good companies can transform into great companies, and how most of them fail to do so. One of the concepts that resonated with me was the flywheel effect - great businesses aren’t built on a single idea or defining action, but instead are driven by a series of well-executed steps that contribute to compounding results, just like a flywheel spinning with unstoppable momentum. Our Power Generation leadership team leveraged the structural framework from the monograph “Turning the flywheel” to build our team’s flywheel, to ensure we maintain clear direction and alignment on the critical components that create a competitive advantage for our organizations continued growth. Our company is uniquely positioned through our scale, experience and technology, all supported by the best team in the industry. This provides us such a strong foundation to build and sustain momentum to reach new heights! #jimcollins #goodtogreat #continuosimprovement #leadership
