NextNav is proud to join a global community in celebrating International GNSS Day and recognizing the vital role that Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) play in powering our world. From enabling precise navigation to ensuring the smooth operation of critical infrastructure, GNSS is the backbone of industries like finance, communications, utilities, national security, emergency response, and agriculture. Why October 23rd? It’s a nod to the original 10.23 MHz signal – the heartbeat of all GPS systems. In our blog, "Celebrating International GNSS Day" we dive into the history of GNSS and celebrate its many milestones: https://hubs.la/Q02VyBMy0 #GNSSDay

A new economic report published today (https://lnkd.in/e2Gtaj_Y) assesses the economic value to the U.S. of NextNav’s proposal for a terrestrial PNT complement and backup to GPS at $14.6 billion, and estimates the proposal could prevent a loss of $663 million to the economy for a 24-hour outage period. The economic analysis, conducted by the Brattle Group, finds that a 1-day global GPS outage could cost the American economy $1.6 billion, and a 30-day outage could cost $58.2 billion. Given the probability of outage events for 1-day, 7-days and 30-days, the NextNav proposal is the equivalent of offering the American economy a $10.8 billion insurance policy to protect against GPS outages without taxpayer funding, plus additional benefits of $3.8 billion.
