About us

The mission of North Florida Land Trust is to preserve and enhance our quality of life by protecting North Florida's irreplaceable natural environment. The North Florida Land Trust: •Is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a volunteer board of directors •Works primarily in seven counties: Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam, and St. Johns. •Partners with landowners, local government and environmental organizations to achieve its mission •Is a member of the national Land Trust Alliance North Florida Land Trust protects land by: •Identifying priority conservation lands with GIS-based criterion •Purchasing properties, particularly: environmentally sensitive ecosystems, unique habitats and wildlife corridors; river, creek, spring and marsh properties critical to the watershed; buffers for or future additions to city/county/federal parks or preservation areas; historically or culturally relevant places •Creating conservation easements (permanent deed restrictions) to limit development •Facilitating planning and consultation for buyers and sellers dedicated to preservation •Providing stewardship and monitoring of preserved lands •Enlisting volunteer efforts by concerned citizens and supporting stewardship activities on our preserved lands •Developing programs for restoration, education, conservation and planning •Accepting donations of cash, stock, endowments
