  • “We move more ones and zeros than any other agency in the United States. A lot of Americans don't realize that, and accordingly, with the size of the constellation growing and the number of terabytes coming from space over the next eight years, that data collection will go up precipitously,” said NGA Director VADM Whitworth. 🛰️ How is NGA going to manage this exponentially increasing amount of data from space to help our warfighters with positioning and targeting? • #OTD, 34 years ago, the Gulf War ended. NGA predecessor agencies played a pivotal role in providing imagery analysis and mapping resources to U.S. efforts, enabling air attacks on over 150 separate and distinct targets in the first 24 hours of the offensive operation. The over 44 million maps created by NGA predecessor agencies during the conflict gave U.S. forces a significant strategic advantage over their Iraqi opponents in both aerial and ground engagements. • Next up in our #GreetingsfromtheArsenal series, check out this post card from 1918. ✉️✉️ The St. Louis Arsenal became operational less than 30 years after the 1803 Louisiana Purchase. It quickly played a vital role in westward expansion, supplying Army and territorial militia west of the Mississippi River, as well as equipping westward expeditions to the Pacific. As necessary militia supplies headed west, they would have left through the Arsenal sallyport, seen here during excavations in 1918. ⛴
