Recently, the USCGC Joseph Tezanos and crew intercepted a smuggling craft containing approximately $4.3 million in cocaine that was en route to Rincón, Puerto Rico, on Sept. 28, 2024. The cocaine, along with two suspected smugglers, were transferred over to DEA custody in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. The interdiction resulted from the multi-agency efforts supporting the Caribbean Corridor Strike Force (CCSF). The CCSF comprises agents, officers, and assets from the DEA, FBI, ICE, DHS, USCG, and the U.S. Marshals, and prosecution is being led by the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico. #WhereareweWednesday A Coast Guard MH-65 dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles is shown here on a rocky mountainside many kilometers from home during an annual search and rescue exercise. HINTS: 1.) The Canadian Air Force 19th Wing hosted the exercise 2.) A nearby valley is home to the largest colony of trumpeter swans on the west coast of North America. 3.) We’re not in Kansas. #SAREX2024 #RCAF #USCG #MH65

#FotoFriday Today’s featured photo includes a U.S. Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules is shown here during sunset on the island nation of the Republic of Palau, located in the Micronesia subregion of Oceania in the western Pacific. Between Sept. 6-8, 2024, USCG crews and Palauan enforcement officials participated in a patrol of over 6,000 miles aboard the HC-130, identifying numerous illegal fish aggregation devices (FADs) and sighting vessels in and around Palau's EEZ. At the request of the Republic of Palau and in response to their concerns of potential illicit maritime activity occurring in Palau's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia Sector Guam (FMSG) and U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point dispatched personnel and equipment to enact the agreement between the U.S. and Palau Concerning Operational Cooperation to Suppress Illicit Transnational Maritime Activity (U.S. – Palau Bilateral Agreement), and in doing so enhance Palau’s maritime domain awareness.
