Merty Lincoln, a Fall 2023 awardee of the Shneyder & Kirk "Reaching the Impossible" Scholarship, has a deep sense of passion and drive to enter the nursing field. Check out her story below where she shares how her home country's healthcare challenges have provided the drive and platform needed to further her commitment in becoming a nurse. 8/19: The Shneyder & Kirk "Reaching the Impossible" Scholarship Fund, founded by Mikhail Shneyder & James Kirk, aims to support students who are currently in Foundational Courses at Nightingale College and need financial assistance to matriculate into their nursing program of choice. Often, these students come from underserved and unrepresented backgrounds and will make a lasting impact as nurses in their local communities post graduation. In Spring 2024, Cintya Hernandez was one of three awardees of this scholarship. Her story shares the impact this fund has on new students in the nursing field.

Sometimes students apply for nursing programs at Nightingale College and aren't yet ready for matriculation into a nursing program. Luckily, these students are eligible to take foundational math and English courses to bring them up to par with their peers. Nightingale Foundation, through the generosity of Mikhail Shneyder and James Kirk, offers the Shneyder & Kirk "Reaching the Impossible" Scholarship Fund to support these students in a financial resource way. In Fall 2023, Mai Vang shares her commitment to nursing school and achieving her dream of becoming a nurse.

Today we feature another awardee of the FNP Scholarship Fund, Sarah Magpayo. Sarah is an FNP student at Nightingale College, who was awarded this scholarship in 2023. She is currently a Pediatric Nurse and becoming an NP will allow her to provide care to all ages/populations in her local community in Nevada.

The Nightingale Foundation's first scholarship fund to be established, the FNP Scholarship is awarded annually to Nightingale College student(s) who have demonstrated academic excellence, have completed their advanced assessment course for the Family Nurse Practitioner program, and are about to begin their first practicum experience. One of this year's awardee is Chris Moore. His dedication and passion to serve his community in Alaska as an NP is an excellent representation of what this scholarship fund seeks to support. At the UWWC Awards Luncheon, Nightingale Education Group was presented with the Gold UWWC Healthy Worksite Award. This recognition is one of the best in the state of Utah regarding worksite wellness. The UWWC Healthy Worksite Awards Program highlights employers for their exemplary efforts when it comes to worksite wellness, promotion, and wellness programs for their employees. Congratulations to the Wellevate! team for consistently working to promote our overall well-being and making Nightingale a place where collaborators can be happy and healthy.

Our California bill, AB2578, passed the Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote! The Senators on the committee heard compelling testimonies from Nightingale representatives and learners, as well as California healthcare facilities. The Senate Appropriations Committee is the next step in early August. Once the bill passes Appropriations, it moves to the Senate floor for a full vote before ultimately going to the Governor's office.
