  • The immigration courts are housed in an agency of the U.S. Department of Justice. Scholars have debated for thirty years regarding whether the courts themselves should be independent of an executive department. This is not a political issue—this is an issue of independent fair hearing, due process and legal precedent stability. This presentation will not advocate any political candidate, policy or issue. This academic discussion will highlight: - The history of the immigration court - The regulatory process of Attorney General certification of precedential cases such as Matter of A-T- and Matter of A-B- - Pros and cons of an independent court To learn more and register today visit, https://ow.ly/XMrj50Tft2I #NJICLE #ImmigrationLaw

  • The U.S. Supreme Court ruling on affirmative action last year left many involved with diversity, equity and inclusion programs wondering what would come next. Since the ruling, DEI advocates have seen a nationwide backlash using the decision to target non-discrimination training and DEI programs across a variety of sectors. Join us Oct. 7, at the New Jersey Law Center or online for the DEI Conference 2024. Our distinguished panel will take stock of impacts felt in higher education, corporate America, law firms and government organizations. The panel will explore other legal actions that have been filed, decisions that provide additional guideposts and efforts that have withstood challenges. The discussion will also feature action items and practical tips for anyone who believes the principles of DEI should remain resonant in workplace culture.
