Dr. Usamah Alfarhan (Sami) won the best paper award at the 47th Annual Conference of the Kentucky Economic Association. His manuscript entitled "Ignorance is Not Bliss: The Influence of Digital Information on Tourism Expenditures and Utility" proposes a theoretical framework showing that tourists' digital information search may contribute to social welfare by simultaneously enhancing consumption efficiency and facilitating higher industry surpluses. #NorseUp #NKUHaileCollege #KentuckyEconomics

At Haile College, it's not just about our learners gaining the knowledge they need in the classroom. It's about giving them the opportunity to apply what they've learned in class through speaking, presenting, and of course, working at companies in co-ops or internships.
Today, a group of outstanding honors students from the Northern Kentucky University —Justin Schnurr, Frederik Smal, Maia Loiacono, Binayak Shrestha, and @Min Pratumvang—delivered a powerful presentation to the Central Ohio River Business Association (CORBA) board during its annual meeting. CORBA, a key industry group representing over 100 regional businesses, posed challenging questions about the short- and long-term impacts of the ILA strike. Under the guidance of Professor Mark Thackeray the students conducted extensive research, providing in-depth analysis on crucial topics, including supply chain performance across industries, the strike's ripple effects on commerce and pricing, potential inflationary pressures, freight strategy adjustments, and potential solutions. Their presentation not only showcased their impressive analytical abilities but also highlighted the quality of education and hands-on experience offered at the NKU Haile College of Business. This event demonstrated the college's strong commitment to preparing students to address real-world business challenges. Stephanie Hughes; Cristiane Biazzin; Bulent Erenay; Sima Fortsch
