Our friends at Memphis Record Pressing will be sharing their insights and passion about the creative and technical process of making vinyl records at Nola MusiCon! They had this to say: At Memphis Record Pressing, We Are Music Makers! We don’t just make records; we make music come to life by what we believe is pure magic. We believe in the independent spirit of every artist, and it’s our mission to help their voices be heard. From indie artists and musicians in Memphis and around the world, to the legends and superstars of yesterday, today and tomorrow, we press each vinyl record with the love, passion and dedication to quality it deserves. For us, it's not just about the music; it’s about supporting creativity, authenticity, and the spirit that drives true artistry. We’re proud to be a part of the process that keeps the music and the vinyl revolution alive! Come visit them at their activation and check out the vinyl panel In the Groove on Oct.30! #WeAreMusicMakers #MemphisRecordPressing

We are thrilled to have The Mechanical Licensing Collective back as our lanyard partner this year! The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) is a nonprofit organization designated by the U.S. Copyright Office pursuant to the historic Music Modernization Act of 2018. In January 2021, The MLC began administering blanket mechanical licenses to eligible streaming and download services (digital service providers or DSPs) in the United States. The MLC collects the royalties due under those licenses from the DSPs and pays songwriters, composers, lyricists, and music publishers, and has built a publicly accessible musical works database, as well as a portal that creators and music publishers can use to submit and maintain their musical works data. These tools help ensure that creators and music publishers are paid properly. The MLC strives to ensure songwriters, composers, lyricists, and music publishers receive their mechanical royalties from streaming and download services in the U.S. accurately and on time. Meet NOLA MusiCon speakers Vurdell “VScript” Muller and Gerard Longo! Hailing from the 504, Grammy Nominee Vurdell “VScript” Muller got his start around the city of New Orleans winning dance contests in the popular dance duo “Fire & Ice”. Heavily influenced by the city’s culture and early 90’s R&B, he took his passion for dancing to the music and elevated to writing it. VScript soon created the multi Grammy nominated “ Supa Friendz Music Group”, a collective of talented writers and producers that move the culture through music. He is a frequent collaborator of Eric Bellinger, with whom he earned his first Grammy nomination as A&R and co-writer for the album "New Light.” He has written for artists such as Chris Brown, and also served as executive producer of Danileigh's EP "My Side." In 2022, Script embarked on a life changing visit to the motherland and fell in love with Afro Beat, the sound taking him back to his NOLA roots of bounce music. He has collaborated with South Africans and New Orleanians to create this new sound, “Afro Bounce”, a soul stirring mix of 808’s and chants fused with African undertones and New Orleans nuance. Currently, Vurdell is Head of A&R for Rodney Jerkins. Gerard Longo is the Founder/CEO of Underground Music Collective, a Nashville-based educational and multimedia platform serving the music industry and independent creatives, everywhere. For more than a decade, UMC has impacted thousands of musicians, creatives, and industry stakeholders through multimedia content, live music experiences, and the UMC Academy artist mentorship program. Gerard spearheads UMC’s collaborations with local, national, and global brands, including Universal Music Group, Red Bull, and Creative Artists Agency. His work has been featured across major media outlets including iHeartRadio and MusicRow Magazine.
