About us

The North Brevard Economic Development Zone (NBEDZ), created in July 2011 by the Brevard County (Florida) Board of County Commissioners, is a Special Dependent District in north Brevard County, established under Florida Statutes, Chapters 125 and 189; the NBEDZ utilizes a tax increment financing mechanism as a source for inducing economic development projects. The goal of the NBEDZ is to facilitate job growth and economic development in the northern part of Brevard County, following job layoffs in the wake of NASA's Space Shuttle program end. In 2017, the NBEDZ was recognized with the Bronze Award by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for the best "Multi-Year Economic Development Program" in the country. In 2019, the NBEDZ and the City of Titusville were recognized as the winning community by the Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC) - the nation's oldest and largest regional economic development association - for its annual Community Economic Development Award, in the category of cities between 40,000 and 100,000 in population.
