The Kansas City Chamber of Commerce awarded NKCH and MH Platinum Level Healthy KC Certified status for the fourth time. This is the highest level of recognition within the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Healthy KC Workplace Wellness Certification. It recognizes our efforts to support and champion employee health and wellness. The Healthy KC initiative evaluates five areas: nutrition, physical activity, tobacco cessation and mindfulness/whole person.

Employee of the Month Paula Rainwater views her job as more than registering patients for doctor’s appointments and lab draws. It’s also about forming friendships. “I care about people, and I enjoy talking with them,” Paula said. “I have a soft spot for our older patients.” Each day Paula and her coworkers register up to 300 patients. Coworker Selena Farrell nominated Paula for Employee of the Month and wrote, “There are not enough amazing words to describe Paula. The Academy, developed by Meritas Health and Park University, is a 14-week program that includes virtual coursework and on-site clinic rotations. The deadline to apply is October 21.
