Dr. Raghu Adiga recently participated in a forum hosted by the Kearney Chamber of Commerce that brought together healthcare leaders from across the Northland to discuss pressing challenges facing our organizations and communities. Key topics included access to transportation, access to specialists and sub-specialists, mental health resources, access to healthy food and more. Maggie Turner, RN, 2 East, is this month’s The DAISY Foundation Award recipient! The DAISY Award is given to exceptional nurses in healthcare who provide their patients with premier care and compassion. “From the very beginning of her shift, Maggie came in to introduce herself, set up expectations and care plans for my wife for the night, and made sure that she felt not only cared for but that she had a true patient advocate working with her. This could not have come at a better time as my wife was experiencing severe pain again. Due to Maggie’s tenacious focus on my wife’s care, on top of the 5 other patients she was caring for, my wife was able to stay on top of her pain medication and rest as much as possible. Maggie has been the absolute gold standard and truly is a real-life walking definition of what it means to not only be an amazing nurse, but a strong patient advocate, a productive employee, a gentle caregiver, and just a good person who aims to make sure people in her care are comfortable and getting the best of what they need to get healthy again.” Congratulations, Maggie, and thank you for all that you do at Liberty Hospital! Go to libertyhospital.org to learn more about how you can nominate an exceptional nurse for the DAISY Award.
