North Sails is the Worldwide leader in Sailmaking.

About us

North Sails is a unique sailmaker, built on a champion spirit. Founded in 1957 by Lowell North who applied an engineer’s logic to a traditional craft, North Sails transformed the industry and has become the world leader in sailmaking technology. North Sails is the largest division of North Technology Group and the brand’s history of innovation and winning has continued to produce generations of product breakthroughs and champions. North Sails holds the patent for 3Di, a unique composite construction process that produces high-performance sails that approach the shape holding of a rigid foil. North Sails is the sailmaker of choice on the majority of America’s Cup, Grand Prix, ocean race boats and Superyachts. North Sails offers a wide range of performance 3D and paneled sails for cruising sailors and is the world’s leading sailmaker for one-design classes with more National, World and Olympic Class victories than all other sailmakers combined. In 2014, the brand expanded their profile to include North Sails Apparel, a lifestyle collection that brings the sailmaker’s love of design and technology into fashion. North Sails adapts the sailmaking mastery into high-performance collections made to resist wind and water. The apparel collections continually develop element-defying materials that allow users to navigate the sea and modern life. Follow North Sails on Instagram www.instagram.com/northsails

  • La Copa 2025 wrapped up at Kernevel Marina, with an action-packed final day of racing. A steady 15-knot northeasterly breeze set the stage for the Mini J skippers to battle it out after making it through Saturday’s qualifiers. By mid-afternoon, the four challengers stepped aboard their North-powered boats, ready to fight for the trophy in front of a buzzing crowd. After a day filled with tight racing, Alan Pennaneac'h from North Sails France claimed victory, with Nicolas Andrieu, Fred Moreau, and Charlotte Yven rounding out the podium. With 28 races completed, plenty of competitive spirit (even from those who partied the night before 🕺), and a packed event village, this edition was one to remember. Huge congratulations to all the sailors—especially our champion! 🏆👏 #LaCopaVoile #NorthSails #sailing #MiniJ #LarmorPlage 📸 polaRYSE

  • The 2025 St. Barths Bucket delivered everything you’d expect—breathtaking scenery, tight competition, and a fleet of phenomenal superyachts pushing their light air performance to the limit. North-powered teams were at the front of the action, securing wins across the board and taking 75% of all podium spots. At the top of them all, Hyperion claimed the title of overall winner, adding another major victory to the #NSVictoryList. In Class A: Les Cent Pied, the Wallycento V was unstoppable, winning every race to take the top spot. Over in Class B: Les Gazelles, it was an all-North podium, with J Class Velsheda taking the win, followed by Visione in second and L’Hippocampe in third. The racing stayed tight in Class C: Les Elegantes, where Hyperion came out on top after a solid performance. Adela, sporting her new North inventory that transformed her performance, climbed the ranks to finish second—just a week after a win in Antigua. Ravenger rounded out another full North-powered podium. In Class D: Les Petites Dames, Hummingbird, powered by a full North downwind inventory, claimed the top spot, while Freya sailed a near-flawless regatta to finish second, just one point off the lead. Over in Class E: Les Esprit, Liberty and Inukshuk battled it out in close racing, securing second and third, respectively. In Class F: Les Mademoiselles, Action put in a strong performance to finish second. Among the Class G: Les Grande Dames, Panthalassa left no doubt, winning every race to take first overall, while Rosehearty secured second and Burrasca made a statement of her own, finishing third. Superyacht racing pushes limits, and North Sails is built to meet the challenge. At the St. Barths Bucket, our custom-designed sails powered the world’s most advanced yachts, leading multiple divisions and proving once again why North is the top choice. With onboard expertise and regatta repair support, we were there—ensuring teams delivered when it mattered most. Another year, another #NSVictoryList stacked with top results—congratulations to the teams who put their trust in North Sails. 🎥 Atila Madrona #StBarthsBucket #NSVictoryList #NorthSails #Superyacht

  • Light breeze, big moves. The 26-strong superyacht fleet at the St Barths Bucket had to rethink the playbook for a second day, with custom courses on the west side of St. Barths replacing the usual “Not So Wiggley” and “Wrong Way Around” routes. The Race Committee kept things rolling by shortening courses mid-race—because even in light air, the competition doesn’t slow down. North-powered Hyperion made the most of it, executing a “massive” 360-degree turn at the final mark and claiming another win in Les Elegantes. “We were robbed of the tradewinds this year, but driving these giant yachts around in four knots of wind is seriously challenging,” said helmsman Ed Danby. In Les Mademoiselles, Action climbed from third to the top of the standings, winning the day and taking the lead on a tiebreaker with North Sails expert Ian Walker on board. The battle in Les Gazelles saw Velsheda leap past Visione after a strong showing, while Panthalasa held her lead in Les Grande Dames. Meanwhile, North Sails expert Tony Rey summed up the unpredictability of the day: “Ten to twelve boats were within five lengths of each other in no wind at all. The radio chatter was epic, but all with best intentions, of course.” With the final day ahead, the North Sails service crew remains on hand, ensuring teams finish strong. One more day to decide the winners. • Nine new sails. Forty crew. One breathtaking schooner. Adela, the stunning 55m schooner originally built in 1903 and rebuilt by Pendennis Shipyard in 1995, is back at the St Barths Bucket, powered by a fresh North 3Di SY  inventory—nine sails, with up to five flying at once in different combinations. “Teamwork and clear communication are essential, and making her go fast is especially gratifying,” says Ruaridh Wright, trimmer and sailmaker from North Sails UK. "With every sail hoisted on winches and dropped manually, it’s a true team effort to race this beauty.” Fresh off a win at the Superyacht Challenge Antigua, the crew is ready to push hard, improve on last year’s performance, and enjoy every moment on the water. Soak in this stunning drone footage of Adela in action. #StBarthsBucket #North3Di #SuperyachtSailing
