Helping children and youth do better today so that they can thrive tomorrow.

About us

"We help children and their families do better today, so that we all do better tomorrow." Founded in 1853, our mission at Northern Children's Services is to support the healthy development of children, while stabilizing their families to build stronger communities. Everything we do at Northern Children’s Services is designed to ensure a more promising future for children and is driven by our belief that every child possesses inherent value, potential, and the ability to transform him or herself – regardless of his or her background or life circumstances. If we invest in that potential through child welfare and behavioral health services that emphasize safety, health, permanency, self-sufficiency and positive relationships, then the children will lead happier, healthier, and more productive lives and contribute to society in meaningful ways. • For this month's Employee Spotlight, we are excited to highlight Dante Foye (pictured on the left), Northern's Lead BHT for the Wellness & Resiliency Program. Our Assistant Director of the Wellness & Resiliency Program, Edith L. Cruz, had many wonderful things to share about Dante: "Dante is a team player; he is attuned to the kiddos and staff and performs above and beyond when needed. However, we all know we don’t have to ask Dante because he is always willing and ready to help. He successfully manages multiple tasks and assigns staff to kiddos based on their needs and staff strengths, while providing additional emotional and environmental support. Dante ensures a safe environment by de-escalating situations that could pose risks to kiddos and staff. Both youth and staff feel safe with Dante; he has developed healthy relationships with all youth and is seen as a trustworthy individual who is always there to listen and assist in challenging situations. He has also created a safe space where staff can raise concerns about youth or colleagues." Please join us in congratulating Dante as our July Employee of the Month and thanking him for all his hard work.

  • Reminder! Northern's 2nd Annual Back to School Community Resource Fair—it's back and better than ever! Everyone's invited to join in the fun right here on our campus on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 1 pm to 4 pm. This year, we've teamed up with Manayunk Development Corporation to collect brand-new backpacks and school supplies. Drop off your donations at their table during Stroll the Streets on Thursdays, or coordinate a drop-off/pick-up with Kat at kchhiev@northernchildren.org. And don't forget, we've partnered with Five Below Andorra on Henry Ave in Roxborough. When you shop there between 7/12 and 7/26, don't forget to show the posted flyer or mention Northern Children's Services at the register. By doing so, 10% of your purchase will directly support Northern—helping us make a big impact!
