As we celebrate UK Black History Month 2024, we honor the rich legacy of Black communities and their profound impact on the UK's cultural landscape. This year's theme, "Reclaiming Narratives," emphasizes taking ownership of the stories that define the culture, contributions, and identity of Black individuals in the UK. In the beginning of the month, our Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Employee Resource Group in collaboration with Race Equality Matters, will empower our employees with the tools and skills needed to address microaggressions, providing practical experience in tackling everyday challenges to inclusivity. By learning to recognize and address microaggressions, we foster a more equitable workplace for everyone. Throughout October, we'll be celebrating key moments in UK Black history, along with the achievements of prominent Black figures in the UK representing the rich tapestry of Black British excellence across various fields. Our UK employees will participate in Wear Red Day, an annual event organized by Show Racism the Red Card, our UK charity partner of the year. North Highland will demonstrate its support for the fight against racism with a guest speaker, employee discussions, and allyship activities. As we reflect on the progress we've made towards inclusivity and recommit ourselves to creating an environment where everyone can thrive, we know that our strength comes from embracing our differences. We are proud to be part of this month-long celebration of heritage, achievement, and unity as we continue to build a more inclusive future for all.
