A well #measured response may be in order! #Calipers and height #gages have been utilized by #machinist since manual machines. We can all agree we have come a long way since cranking an Ol ‘#Bridgeports and utilizing dial calipers. So, answer me this, with high end #3Axis, #4Axis, and Especially #5Axis #machining centers why are more #companies not adopting #CMM #technology. Why are more companies not giving their multi-axis machinist, multi-axis calipers, AKA a CMM, Manual or Automated? There are so many good options today. Calculating #GD&T is also not very fun on #complex geometries, sometimes it is nearly impossible without the right technology. Verisurf Software, Inc. alongside WENZEL America Ltd has made the idea of #programming and operating a CMM much more attainable, and I cannot say enough about how easy #Verisurf has made programming a CMM. #Wenzel even offers a 5-Axis shop floor rated machine that is quite appealing. We currently own one, and really do like the machine. With a PH-20 head, you can literally put the part on the table anywhere in most any orientation, and with a few touches of the probe, Verisurf makes the Wenzel dance, reorienting the moves to match the position of the part. People are probably going to tell me; “It is way too #expensive.” I ask you, how expensive is it to run multiple bad parts or have a highly compensated machinist or #quality #engineer measuring and calculating whether a part is any good? Multiply that by multiple times per day and 300 plus days a year. How many of you can even find machinist or quality personal capable of doing what a CMM can do in minutes? You may want to think twice and then call Verisurf and Wenzel! At Novo Modo Machining, we have 1 CMM for each CNC, and we CMM 100% of our parts as they come off the machine. Yes, 100% of our parts come off a Hermle USA, Inc. machining center and go through a CMM currently. This has led to practically ZERO non-conforming parts leaving the facility and we have not once run a batch of bad parts. So I recently had the opportunity to provide some Verisurf Software, Inc. training to this amazing group at Novo Modo Machining in Mount Vernon, Washington on their WENZEL America Ltd #CMM with the #Renishaw #PH20. We were able to accomplish this with zero downtime even thought the trainees were actually still running their parts!! It was an honor to meet the Captain himself Joseph Alonso. One year in #business came and went. We are coming up on 1 year of actually cutting chips. We have a #longroad ahead of us but we are finding our #niche in the #Space and #DoD world. Specifically doing work that many shops are shying away from or our customers are coming here after their current #supplychain is not able to follow through.
