Why do we have so many different types of batteries? Each type of battery has its own purpose, materials, and environmental impact.  From lithium-ion batteries that power our EVs and smartphones to lead-acid batteries used in traditional cars, understanding these differences is critical as we work toward a more sustainable future.  Lithium-ion batteries have high energy but require mining for metals like lithium and cobalt. Nickel-metal hydride batteries are less toxic and easier to recycle, while lead-acid batteries have the highest recycling rates. Looking ahead, solid-state batteries may become the next big thing with even higher power and safety.  At Novocycle, we specialize in lithium-ion battery recycling, focusing on recovering valuable resources and significantly reducing emissions.
