In the first 15 years, I laid a solid foundation - gaining an education, securing a promising career, and building a beautiful family. The subsequent 15 years have been a journey of growth and learning as an entrepreneur. With a record that’s more about learning than outright success, I’ve been part of four startup companies. Now, embarking on Novy, my fifth venture, is both humbling and rewarding. This time around we will keep doing things different! We’re excited for our first international company trip. Inspired by Paul Graham’s views on creativity and innovation in “How to Do Great Work,” we’re reminded: “Changing your context can help. If you visit a new place, you’ll often find you have new ideas there. Well, who knew I'd be announcing not one, but two projects in the same week? Today, I'm beyond excited to share with you another passion project from Novy which strikes a deep chord with my commitment to using AI for equitable and impactful change. Introducing Zelma, an innovative AI tool developed in collaboration Emily Oster and an extension of the COVID-19 School Data Hub. Zelma is set to transform the way we access and understand U.S. state standardized testing data. Its user-friendly interface allows for seamless interaction with complex data, making educational insights more accessible and actionable. Working alongside Emily Oster in this venture has been an extraordinary honor. After 8 years building and exiting Drift, I found myself unable to take much of a sabattical. While leisure, advisor, or investment roles appeal to some, my passion lies in actively building. This past year of developments in AI have created a remarkable opportunity. I've seen hands-on the role these models can play in an number of use cases, and it's clear to me they'll come to transform every organization. I'm determined to be at the forefront of its widespread application. At Novy, our approach is patient and strategic. Our primary focus is on assembling the right team — individuals hungry to discover how this new frontier will make contact with reality. We're lucky to be partnered with OpenAI for this journey. Supporting their enterprise customers has been enlightening, but even more rewarding has been our collaboration with non-profits on purpose-driven projects. We're thrilled to unveil the first of these - PaidLeave.ai, a custom AI to help New York parents. Shifting from decades of for-profit endeavors to a collaboration with Reshma Saujani and the Moms First team is not only refreshing but deeply inspiring. We are committed to bringing their vision to fruition, ensuring parents have the essential resources to navigate and fully leverage the benefits they rightfully deserve.
