Calling all moms and families: Join us in calling on POTUS and Congress to save and expand the child care tax credit. Families need relief, and they need it immediately. The House Budget Committee is considering cutting the only tax credit that helps families offset skyrocketing child care costs. It’s time to make our voices heard. Everywhere we look, prices are rising. From the little treat we get ourselves on the way home from a grocery run (yes, we get the same feeling when we see the total on the receipt) to costs at the gas pump. But there's one price that outpaces them all: child care. Moms shouldn't have to tackle these rising prices alone. 55% of parents in the U.S. are going into debt to keep up with child care, and as prices continue to soar, that number will continue to grow. Last year, we made child care a cornerstone of the election. Today, we’re making it the centerpiece of our first ask to the new administration. Let’s make it clear: families need relief, and they need it now. Visit https://lnkd.in/gQQmhCFj to sign our letter to President Trump today. P.S. This is just the start, so keep an eye on the feed for more in the days and weeks ahead!

Would you rather pay off your debt or have a baby? That’s the impossible choice facing parents—and potential parents—across the U.S. today. Baby boomers bought homes on a single income. Millennials are putting off a second child because day care now costs more than rent...and they're still paying off the medical bills from having their first kid. Meanwhile, politicians are urging Americans to have more kids, while doing nothing to make it financially possible for families to do so. As part of a new series on financial stress in America, Business Insider spoke with moms who aren’t having more kids—not because they don’t want to, but because they simply can’t afford to. Parents shouldn’t have to choose between staying afloat and growing their families. It’s time for our leaders to step up. Affordable child care is not out of reach in America. How do we know? We’ve done it before. During World War II, the U.S. built a federally funded, universal child care system to keep the economy running while mothers stepped into the workforce. It worked. Businesses thrived. Families benefited. The economy grew. But after the war, instead of making child care a permanent fixture, policymakers shut it down—pushing women back into the home and leaving families to figure it out on their own. Today, child care costs more than rent in all 50 states, and 55% of parents are going into debt just to afford it. We don’t have to live like this. The Lanham Act proved that child care is an economic investment—not an individual burden. It’s time for leaders to step up and make child care an economic priority. Our latest research on paid leave is making waves—and touching a nerve. Moms First and McKinsey & Company uncovered a paid leave paradox that’s grabbing headlines in Forbes, Bloomberg, Fast Company, Motherly®, and more: ▪️ Dads are 25% more likely to be eligible for paid family leave—but 25% less likely to take it. ▪️ In just three states (NY, NJ, CA), fathers left 4 million weeks of paid leave on the table in 2022. ▪️ The #1 reason? More than two-thirds of men believed they didn’t need to take leave if their partner did. But here’s the truth: When dads take leave, moms have better career outcomes, kids thrive, and families are stronger. It’s time to change the script. The fight for paid leave isn’t just about policy. It’s about shifting culture, too. Because caregiving isn’t a mom’s job—it’s a partnership. We’ve all seen the videos: constituents showing up at town halls, demanding answers from their representatives. Now, it’s our turn. At this very moment, Congress is pushing for massive tax giveaways to the ultra-wealthy—and they’re planning to pay for them by gutting the programs working families rely on. On top of reductions to vital programs like SNAP and Medicaid, Congress is considering devastating cuts to the only tax credit that helps parents afford child care. These proposed cuts will push more parents into debt and put even more financial strain on American families. Lawmakers need to hear from parents, loud and clear. The more they hear from us, the harder it will be to ignore the child care crisis. And they need to hear from us right now, because from this Saturday, 3/15 15 to Sunday, 3/23, your member of Congress will be in your districts to hear from constituents. We won’t let them make these cuts without a fight. Let’s make sure there’s zero confusion about where America’s moms and working parents stand. 🧰 Find your rep’s next town hall and demand action. 📣 Big news: child care is finally getting the bipartisan attention it deserves. A new bipartisan, bicameral bill introduced by Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Katie Britt (R-AL) and Representatives Salud Carbajal (CA-24, D) and Mike Lawler (NY-17, R) would expand tax credits for child care and help providers stay open—because no parent should have to choose between earning a paycheck and affording care for their kids. The message from American families is clear: child care isn’t a political issue—it’s an economic one. And lawmakers across the aisle are starting to listen. Love seeing politicians take action on child care? Let’s keep the momentum going. Take 5 seconds to send a letter to your representatives and urge them to make child care a priority: https://lnkd.in/e54PQXqU

This International Women’s Day, let’s talk about why the U.S. continues to miss the mark for moms amongst the global landscape. We’re the only wealthy nation without paid leave. Child care costs more than rent in all 50 states. And every day, moms are forced to leave the workforce—not by choice, but because our systems make it impossible to work and care for our families. Women’s equality isn’t just about breaking glass ceilings. It’s about rebuilding the broken systems that are holding us back. Until we tangibly invest in moms and families, gender equality in America will remain a myth. This International Women's Day, let’s do more than celebrate—we need to demand better. Because there is no gender equality without affordable child care. There is no gender equality without paid leave. And there is no child care without the recognition moms desperately deserve. Donate today to join our mission to fight for the policies moms deserve: https://lnkd.in/ei3CR8NT 📹: Reshma Saujani at the National Child Care Innovation Summit, 2024 #IWD #IWD2025

Sick with one of the many viruses your kiddo brought home from school? You’re not alone—cold and flu season has been brutal this year. But for too many workers, taking a sick day isn’t simple. The U.S. is one of the only wealthy nations without federally mandated paid sick leave. That means millions of workers are left navigating a confusing patchwork of state and employer policies—if they even have paid leave at all. In fact, 50% of workers don’t know what paid leave they’re entitled to. That’s why it is crucial to give workers the tools to help them understand their rights and access the time off they deserve. And with PaidLeave.ai, we’re cutting through the red tape to ensure families actually use the benefits available to them. Because no one should have to choose between their health and their paycheck.
