Better late than never? “The US Department of Energy has finalised a USD1.52 billion loan guarantee for Holtec International's project to recommission the single-unit pressurised water reactor, and the Department of Agriculture has issued USD1.3 billion in grants to two rural electric cooperatives that will purchase power from the restarted plant.” #SustainingEnergyInnovation #Leadership #Innovation #CleanEnergy #Nuclear #NuclearEnergy #Energy #AllEmissionsMatter #AllTheAboveEnergy #NECenergy #EntropicQuantumUncertainty

“NANO Nuclear Energy's novel heat exchanger concept, intended for use in the Zeus microreactor, a technical audit of the Antares R1 thermosiphon-cooled microreactor, a study to develop purity tests for molten salts, and a screening process to identify potential sites for nuclear-powered data centres have been chosen to receive funding from the US Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Energy's Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear (GAIN) programme.” #SustainingEnergyInnovation #Leadership #Innovation #CleanEnergy #Nuclear #NuclearEnergy #Energy #AllEmissionsMatter #AllTheAboveEnergy #NECenergy #EntropicQuantumUncertainty

“The US Department of Defense has broken ground at Idaho National Laboratory for the Project Pele prototype mobile microreactor. It will become the USA's first electricity-generating Generation IV reactor as early as 2026. The reactor, under a Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO) initiative, is being manufactured by BWXT Advanced Technologies LLC. Assembly of the final reactor is set to begin in February next year. The current schedule includes transport of the fully-assembled reactor to Idaho National Laboratory (INL) in 2026.” #SustainingEnergyInnovation #Leadership #Innovation #CleanEnergy #Nuclear #NuclearEnergy #Energy #AllEmissionsMatter #AllTheAboveEnergy #NECenergy #EntropicQuantumUncertainty

”A group of the world’s biggest banks said Monday they will increase support for the expansion of nuclear power, according to the Financial Times. The banks, including Barclay’s, Bank of America, Citi, Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas, and Goldman Sachs will make the formal announcement later Monday at an event with White House climate policy advisor John Podesta. The stepped-up commitment from the banks is in support of goals set out at last year’s COP 28 conference to triple nuclear generation globally by 2050. It comes as expansion of wind generation - and, to a lesser extent, solar - is meeting with rising opposition from communities and struggling with profitability even while benefitting from a suite of government subsidies and tax incentives. It also comes as power grid managers struggle with increasing reliability issues as they are forced to integrate more and more intermittent wind and solar into their regional power structures.” #SustainingEnergyInnovation #Leadership #Innovation #CleanEnergy #Nuclear #NuclearEnergy #Energy #AllEmissionsMatter #AllTheAboveEnergy #NECenergy #EntropicQuantumUncertainty
