This 17th Endowed Chair at Nuvance Health was made possible by a generous $2 million gift from Dr. John R. and Mrs. Joanne Patrick. The Patricks and Dr. Wright are committed to advancing healthcare through technological innovation. Dr. Patrick, a visionary in technology and healthcare, has made significant contributions to the development of the Internet! Dr. Wright has been a pivotal leader at Nuvance Health, introducing novel technologies to enhance care. These include a portable MRI for neurological patients and an at-home cognitive care program for patients and caregivers. “I am beyond thankful for John and Joanne Patrick’s generosity and overwhelmed by the extraordinary honor of being the recipient of their endowment. Meet Dave and Saffy — a 6-year volunteer and therapy dog pair from Northern Dutchess Hospital! 🐾 While Dave is a natural at brightening people's day, his path to becoming a volunteer was non-traditional! "I became a volunteer by accident, a family friend was terminally ill and loved dogs. I began making regular visits to the faculty with my previous dog, I saw that patients and staff enjoyed and appreciated interaction with the dog. In 2019, while onboarding at a hospital as a therapy dog team, a routine blood test led to a cancer diagnosis (Mantle Cell Lymphoma) for me. My time as a patient broadened this perspective, and we became a team upon my remission. I love volunteering because I know as a caregiver and a patient it makes a difference and brightens the moment or the day for those we visit with."
