Our kidney disease education and health equity event in Miami last month was a great success! Not only did we meet and chat with local dialysis patients, care partners, and healthcare workers, but we were able to educate about dialysis options, answer lots of questions, and connect people together! A big shoutout to the team who spearheaded this event and to our Patient Advocates and Patient Consultants who came to share their personal experiences. Connecting with the community is so important to us; it allows us to better understand the unique needs of patients and care partners, which ultimately helps us deliver better solutions. We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue making a positive impact and look forward to more meaningful engagements in the future!

This impactful event featured dinner, entertainment, and the unique pig-kissing ceremony—a nod to the pig’s role in early diabetes research as the first source of insulin. During a recent water contamination in Texas, Patient Consultant and NxStage user Lupe was able to continue her home hemodialysis (HHD) treatments uninterrupted, thanks to pre-mixed bagged dialysate and the flexibility of her NxStage® HHD cycler! "It was a little frightening because I depend on the water supply to make my dialysate, but it was nice to be able to call NxStage Customer Service and have a weeks worth of hanging dialysate bags shipped to me by the next day." NxStage systems are the only HHD cyclers in the U.S. that can use pre-mixed bagged dialysate when traditional water sources aren't available, providing peace of mind and allowing patients to treat where and when they need to during emergencies.
