"Last year, we had a record-breaking year for exits from shelter into permanent housing. It was about 18,500 households – a 24% increase from the year prior. Yesterday, the DSS M/WBE Program Team attended the Tri-Agency M/WBE Networking Event hosted by our colleagues at the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS), the Department of Probation (DOP), and the New York Fire Department (FDNY). We’re so grateful to Elizabeth Brown, David Francis, Raquelle Patterson and their teams for the opportunity to meet dynamic M/WBE vendors whose work closely aligns with our mission. At the event, we shared information about the resources we’ve developed to help M/WBEs bid and contract with our agency and our human service providers and prime contractor partners. We also referred vendors to the valuable resources available at the NYC Department of Small Business Services to help them position for contracts and growth. If you’re an M/WBE, or believe you might qualify for certification, please email us at mwbe@dss.nyc.gov or visit our M/WBE Resource Page. The site (and our team) is ready with information about certification, doing business with DSS/HRA/DHS, upcoming events, resources, and opportunities to contract.
