SNAP boosts good purchasing power which allows low-income families to access healthy food. This helps the more than half of those New Yorkers facing food hardship who also reported facing health problems. #SNAPShot #FarmBill

Yesterday, the DSS M/WBE Program Team attended the Tri-Agency M/WBE Networking Event hosted by our colleagues at the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS), the Department of Probation (DOP), and the New York Fire Department (FDNY). We’re so grateful to Elizabeth Brown, David Francis, Raquelle Patterson and their teams for the opportunity to meet dynamic M/WBE vendors whose work closely aligns with our mission. At the event, we shared information about the resources we’ve developed to help M/WBEs bid and contract with our agency and our human service providers and prime contractor partners. We also referred vendors to the valuable resources available at the NYC Department of Small Business Services to help them position for contracts and growth. If you’re an M/WBE, or believe you might qualify for certification, please email us at mwbe@dss.nyc.gov or visit our M/WBE Resource Page. The site (and our team) is ready with information about certification, doing business with DSS/HRA/DHS, upcoming events, resources, and opportunities to contract. In this month’s M/WBEs in the Mix, we hear from our Diversity Officer and M/WBE Program Lead, Raymond Daniel Medina. Raymond Daniel, working together with our agency’s M/WBE Program and Senior Leadership Teams, developed our Matchmaking Event Program in response to M/WBEs looking to make substantive connections with procurement staff and decision makers. Three years, and over 800 matches later, we are celebrating contract outcomes for one in five M/WBEs who have attended our Matchmaking Events! We are grateful to our agency staff, Human Service Providers, Prime Contractors, and M/WBEs for joining us in this commitment. Here at DSS/HRA/DHS, we understand the value of the M/WBE Program to our local communities, clients, and economy and are committed to bringing stakeholders together to celebrate their shared diversity, talents, and resilience. It all starts with intention…and a handshake. The team has also developed online resources to help M/WBEs learn more about making contract connections and growing their businesses with our agencies and program partners. If you’re an M/WBE, or think you might qualify for certification, please email us at mwbe@dss.nyc.gov or visit our M/WBE Resource Page at https://lnkd.in/gaKF7NPe. The site (and our team) is full of information about certification, doing business with DSS/HRA/DHS, upcoming events, resources, and opportunities to contract with us and our partners.
