#DiversityThursday is designed to provide a sustained welcoming and protected environment to help our employees work effectively and collaboratively together by cultivating genuine connections, showcasing agency accomplishments, and sharing information & resources. One way to encourage peer recognition in the office is to show cultural sensitivity as it can help you and your co-workers understand different cultures and celebrate one another’s insights, values, and experiences. In this week’s M/WBE in the Mix, we are delighted to introduce Beverly M. Riddick and the Urban Resource Institute (URI) team. URI has been named our first M/WBE MVP for their exemplary partnership in Fiscal Year 2024. Our M/WBE Program Team works closely with Human Service Providers, Non-Profits, and Community-Based Organizations like URI to build contract pipelines and create opportunities for the City’s Minority- and/or Women-Owned Business Enterprises to join us in our shared mission to support those in need. URI have been strong partners in this, at our M/WBE Matchmaking Events, as well as at past Citywide Procurement Fairs. We are very grateful to Nathaniel Fields, Chief Executive Officer of URI, for recognizing the opportunity M/WBEs represent. On November 4th, the NYC Department of Small Business Services will host the 2024 Citywide Procurement Fair. The DSS/HRA/DHS Program Team has been invited to host an Opportunity Room at the event. Please join us and meet the Urban Resource Institute team as well as other Human Service Provider Organizations as we moderate a panel on Positioning for Partnership|Contracting for Community. If you’re interested in attending the event, you can find more information on SBS’ EventBrite Page. If you’re an M/WBE, or think you might qualify for certification, please email us at mwbe@dss.nyc.gov or visit our M/WBE Resource Page at https://lnkd.in/gaKF7NPe. We’d be happy to connect you with information about resources, upcoming events, and opportunities to contract with us and our partners.
